Mattias Nilsson pointed out on Facebook-you CAN use 4K60p and 10-bit recording in both MOV or MP4 (LPCM) modes. (My mistake at 6:20.) He's right, and I must've been confusing an earlier version of preproduction firmware that could only do it in MP4 (LPCM) mode.

was it worth buying this in 2019? When it comes to tech I usually buy the most current, but the GH5 is a two year old camera, the S1 are kinda newer i think but are out of my price range and the GH5s still a little out of reach. Im leaning to this model over the sony a7iii, the GH5 has low light issues but can be easily fixed with a right lens set up
@StudioBonn5 жыл бұрын
@@Varillah I got mine this year too, 'cause I have seen so many informative videos in which professional video shooters shows up the high quality and flexibility of this masterpiece. Money wasn't my critical, I could get the BM4K or SonyS7blabla. And after this short time I'm so satisfied with my decision like never before. Normally I buy things with a short popularity and I'm frustrated. But this camera is really awesome... And not the S model!

i'm using c1 for 4k60 (8-bit) and c2 for c4k24 10-bit. my mnemonic is #1 for default or best and #2 for 24fps. but we agree on c3-1 (at 150fps for me, although you can change on-the-fly). i might work in 3-2 and 3-3 for vlog and non-vlog modes as there's about a dozen changes to make in those cases.

the dealbreaker was the video just fell apart in low light. which is all i shoot. iso 3200 is barely usable. many ways its nice. the dual image stabilization is nice. the noise tests i saw on youtube looked very impressive... but when you get the camera home if you even go near the iso control , well, its just noisy. also i hated the live view/viewfinder during focusing. its like theres a delay latency or something, and took forever to go through the entire travel of focus. this was with the pan 35-100mm. a couple small things like the display button is impossible to find or press in the dark. unable to assign iso to the rear thumb wheel like on the a7s. battery life not as good as the gh4. another thing i noticed is ...i have a barely 2 year old pc with 4k monitor and 4k video card and it struggles to play the gh4's 4k files. thats pretty much it.

Hi Griffen! I have been using the gh4 for over a year now, your gh4 guide was very very helpful so thank you! I am curious about the filmmaking aspect of the gh5. I've heard that the in body stabilisation or some form of e stabilisation cannot be truly turned off. Because I reply on my sachtler tripod a lot as well as my ahi yuan crane, would this mean that the camera stabilisation will result in micro jitters when using physical stabilisation tools such as those above? A terrible thing would be having bought an expensive tripod and upgraded the camera and result in jitters. Now that gh5s is out and it does not have ibis. Does that mean the gh5 won't be good with tripod etc? And I'm curious why you think of them. just wanna know your opinion. Thank you!
@jeffslade18923 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be turned off. If the lens has an OIS switch that will turn it all off. The E-Stabilisation can be turned off from the Movie menu. However where you might have ground vibration such as in my case a subterranean stream, the IBIS/Dual on my G9 will take it out even on the best mounts. The old rule of turn the stabilisation off when on a tripod does not always apply, framing and focussing is better with the stabilisation on. On an astronomical german equatorial mount the camera is in constant motion tracking the sky, the motors cause a little vibration too. The camera stabilisation does not try to counter-correct that motion. On an Alt-Az mount the movement is more jerky, left-right, up-down, and that can confuse the stabiliser, however it usually just smooths the movement out without ill effect. OTOH I don't think you need an external stabiliser gimbal with the Dual-IS/Dual-2. I can hand-hold the PL100-400 on the G9, and that probably applies to the GH5 series too. It will depend on the mass of extraneous clutter you have on the rig, free the camera up so it is independent of bolt-on bits, fwiw it works being bounced around on a motorbike (I do need a better chest harness though).

I had this problem too and didn't even realize why. I was fooling around and sitting there wondering why in the world my shots weren't stabilized as before.
@photojoseph7 жыл бұрын
I see Griffin reproduced it, but I can't… I have however heard of this before. Do you need to follow the exact steps outlined (i.e. power up camera without a lens, put the lens on…) or is it simply that when you go to manual WB, you lose stabilization? Which lens, specifically? And by Manual WB, do you mean the custom (point at something neutral), or do you mean Kelvin? I've tried it all and don't lose stabilization. If you haven't tried it yet… do a reset of your camera (you can save then restore your settings). See if that makes a difference?
@stefanjungreithmaier29497 жыл бұрын
