@@PardeMalas Hey there! At the moment, I use V-Log for shooting all videos on my GH5, but before that when I was shooting on Cine-D, the settings I think I mostly used are these: Contrast -1 Sharpness -5 Noise reduction 3 Saturation -1 Hue 0 Hope it helps! :)

@@PardeMalas There are also luts you can use in post that transform a standard, natural or cine-d clip into a V-Log type of profile..These saved me many times when I forgot to switch from standard to V-Log when I was switching from taking photos to shooting videos and they do a really good job! They flatten the colors to make a pretty good match with the actual V-Log profile and allow you to color correct the clip as you'd like or place another lut on top. ...just some bonus info :D

thank you for the settings ! am thinking buying a panasonic if you have to choose one ? ( for good ibis ) the S1 / GH5 or Gh5s ?
@JakeMcHugh4 жыл бұрын
It depends what you are shooting mostly, but if you want good ibis the only 2 you are really considering is the S1 and GH5 as the GH5s doesn’t have any IBIS. If you need something that is good in lowlight then the S1 might be the better choice for you. If you shoot mostly in daylight or in control lighting environments then the GH5 is just fine. Something also to consider is that the lens option are more plentiful and cheaper on the GH5 as well as being able to adapt more lenses. With the S1 you have a bigger body which means bigger glass and more money. If you are traveling a lot the GH5 is smaller in size and would be lighter to travel with as well. I hope this helps! Hi there. What lense under $1000 for do you recommend for gh5 specially for short films ? Thank you.
@JakeMcHugh3 жыл бұрын
I would definitely check into the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 on a speedbooster. Another option would be the Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8. The Panasonic is better for handheld shooting and smaller for run and gun situations, but the sigma has that nice shallow depth of field and is better in low light. I have a few videos on both of these lenses below: Sigma 18-35mm review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKPTfZefnLSUZsk Budget Speedbooster for Sigma: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4jQlKlofc1_q6c Panasonic 12-35mm review: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6PHiJt4lrl6r68 Sigma 18-35mm vs Panasonic 12-35mm: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a2Skp2Nsiduqmac I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Great video thank you. What would you recommend for weddings, Natural, Cinelike D or V-Log (i have it), allowing me to shoot 4k 60fps? Vlog has more dynamic range, but it would be 8 bit... thoughts on best profile? Must be 4k and some parts 60p for slow motion.
@JakeMcHugh4 жыл бұрын
With weddings you will be dealing with a lot skintones so I would lean towards the Natural profile so you will have less tweaking in post. I would use this profile for both your 4k 24fps and 60p for slow motion so you wouldn't have to color match in post as well. I highly recommend checking out this video here from White In Revery. They are wedding filmmakers would use the GH5 in the natural profile as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6unkoKXr5aLeq8 I hope this helps!!! Thanks for watching!!!

Great video!! If one were primarily going to use for video, would you recommend GH5s or stick with GH5? I know the GH5 has higher megapixel sensor than the GH5S, but been reading that it doesn't matter and GH5S was released by Panasonic for better video? Your thoughts?
@JakeMcHugh4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the type of video shooting you are doing in my opinion. If you're planning on doing a lot of Running and Gunning or shooting handheld, then I would choose the GH5 because of it's IBIS. If shooting more locked off tripod shots, then go with the GH5s I would say. The GH5s does have a slightly bigger sensor which does help in low light as well. I hope this helps!!!

Im thinking of picking this up. What are the file sizes for each format. Say like 1 minute of DCI 4K 60p ? How much space does it take on disk ? ..................... Is there some location where they give a chart of the file sizes for each format and resolution of this camera ? And will the files edit smooth (timeline scrubbing) on a Ryzen 5 3800 ?
@JakeMcHugh3 жыл бұрын
There isn't a chart that I know of, but I went ahead and recorded 1 minute in some different Record settings and here is what I got: 4k 10bit 150mb/s 24fps: 1.17GB 4k 10bit 400mb/s All-I 24fps: 3.08GB 4k 10bit 150mb/s 30fps: 1.17GB 4k 10bit 400mb/s All-I 30fps: 3.05GB 4k 8bit 60fps Interal: 1.09GB 1080p 8bit 180fps VFR: 1.47GB I don't have an external recorder to try out 4k 60fps in 10bit, but I hope this gives you an idea on how much it will take for your needs. If you are looking for a budget friendly SD card for this camera that can record in all the specs I listed I recommend checking out this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6PJipyBacuBepY As for computers, I'm a mac users so I'm not the best for PC spec questions. I think you would be okay, but it's hard for me to say since I don't have experience editing GH5 files on a PC. I will say before I got my M1 Mac mini that I did have to transcode my 10bit files to ProRes in order to have smooth playback. If you record to a Ninja V you don't have to worry about this since it can record in ProRes. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
@mgr55503 жыл бұрын
@@JakeMcHugh > Thanks a ton Jake. Im very grateful for the test you made to help out. Incidentally last evening i found out that there is a lengthy chart in the manual that lists all formats and how much space they would take on different capacity SD cards, just sharing for what its worth. Oh you cant record 4K 60p 10bit on the internal SD card is it ? It definitely needs an external recorder ? On your mac you edit by keeping the footage on an NVMe or a normal SSD ? My edit PC is rigged with an exclusive SATA SSD for the OS + NLE program + 3ds max on it. The edit footage drive is a traditional 7200rpm platter drive. Theres an M.2 slot sleeping idle and i thought what if i put an NVMe chip type SSD on it for say 1TB and use it only to edit the "current project" or two like a scratch drive. After the edit is over i'd shift the footage to the HDD. So this would give me better throughput speed for the footage being edited. Have you used this method before ? PS : My PC has separate OS/FOOTAGE/RENDERS & BACKUP Drives. Thank you kindly.
@JakeMcHugh3 жыл бұрын
Oh that is great to know about the chart. Thanks for sharing that! And yes, you can't record in 4k60 10 bit 422 internally on the GH5 and will need a recorder for that. On the new GH5 mark II that just came out you can record 4k60 10 bit 420 internally though and I think you will get something similar with the GH6 when it comes out. For editing I typically have a 3 external hard drive system. I have one 1TB Samsung T5 External SSD that I edit off of and just a standard 4TB external HDD that I use for backup files. Both have all the original video files and assets for the project at hand. Once the project is completed and exported I then compress the project folder and archive it onto a 8TB hard drive. This might not be the best way to go about it, but with doing mostly youtube content this is what works for me. I hope this helps!

Cinelike D vs Natural...which is more "cinematic" profile:)?
@JakeMcHugh4 жыл бұрын
One isn't more cinematic than the other I would say. They have different colors out of camera and you will have to find what works best for you and your workflow! Natural tends to give you more accurate colors out of camera compare to Cinelike D which is nice for quicker turnaround on projects. I like to use Cinelike D because I am so use to it and know how to grade it the way I want. When it comes to a cinematic image it's much more than a picture profile and a LUT or color grade. While a color grade can give an image a certain look or feel there are many other factors that play into getting the look of a cinematic image. Lighting, audio, sound effects, and lens selection all play a huge roll in this! I hope this helps!

@JakeMcHugh4 жыл бұрын
I think the sweet spot is around 20,000kbps when exporting in 4k, but to be honest I don't really play around with bitrate when exporting. To me, and this is just my opinion, I don't think your problem is export setting. What picture profile are you shooting in? V-Log? What is the highest ISO are you using? I think that Noise and grain deals with the image the camera is recording more than export settings. I usually don't go over 1600 ISO and if I do it's 2000 max. I know that noise can be an issue sometimes when shooting V-log and common practice is to expose one stop over to combat this. I don't shoot in V-log often so I can't speak for this fully. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!!!
