"Stokley Carmichael babysat my cousins" has to be the biggest odd flex I've ever heard. If you said that at a party I'd definitely only pay attention to you for the rest of the night. At first glance, I'd say that black militancy and white privilege are mutually exclusive categories, but with an opener like that you're perfectly qualified to discuss this.

Loved the review! What you said at the start reminds me of how I’ve felt about the new Petrol Girls album (which I’d love to hear your thoughts on btw!) and how it talks about men and misogyny. One great lyric from that album is “I want to be held but not held back”, which I think captures a similar intersection between militant feminism and having loving personal relationships between men and women. Hearing you look into these lyrics is really interesting - makes me think about how much merit there is in a provocative statement on its own. Of course, there’s more to this album than provocative statements, but I do wonder where the line is drawn between something believed and something said with the intention of being upsetting. Hopefully after I’ve looked into the lyrics more I’ll have some ideas about what Ghais is doing with some of these lines.

To the question of what the white community can do; I am a friend with ghais and i think he would agree with me in this i think, what yall can do is organize your communities around revolutionary militancy (aka marxism-leninism-maoism) and support black revolutionaries like mumia, assata, Rashid and groups like the RIBPP and maoists internationally. engage with us and our theory and practice critically and in a dialectical manner. serve the people and die for the people if it calls for it, in the words of chairman mao "To die for the people is weightier than Mount Tai, but to work for the fascists and die for the exploiters and oppressors is lighter than a feather. Comrade Zhang Side died for the people, and his death is indeed weightier than Mount Tai."

my first time hearing about the RIBPP, is intercommunalism not revisionist, or is their name a hangover? edit: i worded that poorly. i'm under the impression that intercommunalism is revisionist, because it denies the idea of oppressed nationhood

@@crysanthiumvega imo intercommunalism is a revisionist ideal but they are the best working rn and this is why line struggle is important so these things can be talked out and so we can come to the correct ideas

but its not an antagonistic contradiction so its not something to denounce them over, some the maoist left in particular should take note of is the act of line struggle while also remembering these arent antagonistic contradictions in the current time

Great review, but I'd love if you could possibly dive into boldy James, I think if you take a look at his multiple albums released in 2022 there's an interesting underlying comment on the pursuit of rap excellence through a though time. More so it's a glimpse into the griselda production team which seem to be missed alot by reviewers so as my favorite reveriwer you'd make me so happy :)

I don't know if this is because I'm from Scotland and not the US but it seems incredibly strange to me to be ok with people hating you just because you're white. I don't know what it's like over there but here black people are seen as Scottish, not African-Scottish, just Scottish.

maybe it would make more sense like this would it not feel natural for an irishman to feel resentment towards an occupying brit?

@@crysanthiumvega No? That's not generally what happens in the isles. People are judged by their character here. The British government does not represent the English people and the vast majority of Irish and Scottish people know this.

It's a European thing to not add someone's immigrant / racial status before their nationality. Despite the claim that they don't see race compared to America like that, they did the colonizing that started race dynamics throughout Western hegemony and spread the pseudoscience of race being a biological concept to its colonies. "People are judged by their character here" until their national soccer team loses and there's blame and slurs thrown at black players in a European country.

@@traplover6357 truly I took Vis's comment in good faith until the follow up that denies english proletarian culpability for benefiting from Irish occupation. but really I should have noticed that it was strange for someone from the occupied nation of Scotland to be arguing for "unity"
