Even though I have yet to visit, Ghana holds a special place in my heart. I recently discovered that we have a community in The Gambia known as Ghana Town, home to Ghanaian fishermen for over a century. Living outside Africa has deepened my appreciation for the continent's rich culture and history. I uncovered that some of these Ghanaians in The Gambia are returning to Ghana due to the economic crisis. While I understand their reasons, I hope that my country can be economically independent so that they choose to remain and continue to thrive there. Sending positive vibes to all from California.

The villages BBC and CNN portray as deprived and poor are even the best places to be. The people there are very welcoming but what makes it look bad is the negative narrative about it. If you want to feel and breathe Ghana, don't end your tour in Accra but go to the villages and feel the authentic culture. People are losing trust in traditional media because of their propaganda.

This documentary proves that God is truly turning the captivity of His people on the continent. It’s not coincidental that many are all beginning to see and appreciate how awesome and beautiful people inside and out we are. The veil is being lifted of our true identity and we are blessed as a generation to witness this. Onwards to greatness and shedding all negativity. In Micah 4:8 the scripture says I’ll return my people once again to the first dominion that they lost. “Kingship and sovereignty will return again back you; your royal might and power will come back to you daughter of Jerusalem”. It’s happening right before our eyes. Let’s embrace it, people of the Most High.

Gee! I spent a month in Ghana, years ago, but I never saw ANYTHING remotely as beautiful as this documentary is showing. Sadly, I spent nearly all of my time in the capital city, Accra. The MOST gorgeous thing I did encounter while there was seeing the children all walking to school in the morning with smiles and excitement as they wore their backpacks and uniforms. Some of the children were as young as, maybe, three years old! That truly was a gorgeous sight to see! Education and cleanness were PARAMOUNT in that culture. At 5:00 AM the days begin with sweeping, hand washing, and kids starting their journey to being educated.

I hardly watch a documentary through to the end, but right after watching the entire 50 minutes of this documentary the first time, I watched the whole thing again. It is an exquisite, dainty, and witty documentary that shows the best and worst of a West African country, in the best way possible; a feast for the eyes and ears, which leaves our cup running over. With an unbeatable soundtrack to match its breath-taking cinematography, it curates a viewing experience of what is sometimes idyllic, sometimes urban, sometimes scenic, sometimes chaotic, but at all times, beautiful. From the picturesque savanna wilderness and forests of the North, through the warm, light and airy of the riverine towns and villages of the middle Volta, to the dark forests, cocoa belt and golden veins of historically great Ashanti, one is taken on a guided tour across the length and breadth of Ghana. The ferries on the river, the swanky estuarine villas of Ada, the wooden boats on the coconut tree-lined beaches of the coastal South, the boxing district of Bukom, and the slums and markets of large towns and cities abuzz with commerce and hustle, showcase the rich heritage, culture, and natural endowments of Ghana. But above all, it shows her greatest resource - the people. Chapeau to the makers of this fine documentary.
