The thing about no one helping you in Sweden if you are carrying, for example, heavy things is because it can be considered impolite to do so, so you are insinuating that that person can't manage on their own. Of course, if it's completely obvious that the person can't handle it themselves, people can come forward and ask. Otherwise, if you want help, you have to ask for it.
