Just take pride in being a contributor to a recycling system where less than 1% of household waste ends up in a landfill (49% is recycled and 50% is incinerated to produce energy). :)

Great video! Really refreshingly unique compared to some other similar videos I've seen. 👍 One advantage to picking up your package is of course that it's much less likely to be stolen. The recycling stations are mostly in very dense cities. All of my apartments have had all their recycling locally. Including biological waste like food which powers our buses down here in Malmö. 😄

The taxes you are referring to are duties and import tax and that simply applies for everything bought from outside EU.

If you order from the US you have to have extra money available for customs, or call up the tax authorities and pay in advance. It's irritating. If it's another EU country, no such thing.

@@7YBzzz4nbyte Buying within the EU you do not pay anything extra, not a Sweden thing. Also why are you stuck on buying things from the US if you live in Sweden? The EU is bigger than the USA anyway so you have more choices. I am an American who lives in Sweden I am 5'9 118 pounds and I have no problems buying clothes in northern Sweden or EU and I do not live in Stockholm so I do not know why you would.

Packages today are not picked up very often at the post office. The freight forwarder sees where you live and if you do not choose, you pick up the package at the nearest agent (shop or similar near your resident) The extra fee you pay to pick up the package is a fee (penalty fee) Trade in Sweden loses customers when we shop abroad. The fee is a way to punish those who shop from abroad and entice them to shop here instead.
@kentnilsson465
@kentnilsson465 Жыл бұрын
I would add that post packages isnt delivered to post offices but to different kinds of stores. There are also more and more kubik places close to where you live where you can pick up your package. Its its a large package like a TV its usually delivered to your home. You only pay an extra charge, usually VAT, if you shop outside of EU or EES. So if you shop from the US or China you have to pay extra

About import taxes. I won a t-shirt from a Canadian company, it was free and free shipping. However, they had listed the value as 25 Canadian dollars so I had to pay a staggering 68% of the "cost" as taxes on my free t-shirt. I still payed of I complained about it, as any true swede would. :P

Always by alcohol enaugh so you have home. And restock on the right times when not everyone is shopping. If you always have some at home there's no worries when ure in time of a need :) If you get used to that systembolaget works fine.. Just a mindset.. Hope you will find clothes online or in you're town that can replace what u usually like/by. So you don't need to pay that extra tax... Take care J

I think you need to avoid buying stuff from America. It can be really expensive. The same happens if you order things in America from the EU. That's the issue not having free trade. We should be happy we have the EU at least. You need to buy your favorite stuff when you visit America and bring in your suitcase, else calculate with that hefty import tax/penalty.

Can u girls recommend a nice town in the south for families? I was thinking Gothenburg. Malmo i heard has some gun issues . Would really appreciate your input . 😊
@SilverionX
@SilverionX 2 жыл бұрын
@@Gigi-rg7xy "South" is a very relative term in Sweden, since 10% of it is in the arctic circle. Sweden doesn't have a gun issue like some cities in the US, but some areas of some towns have problems with crime. You're unlikely to get caught up in it as a civilian, since criminals here are more interested in shooting each other. If you can afford to live anywhere but the poorest, most rundown neighborhoods, you should be fine. Coming from Gothenburg myself I think it's a lovely city, but finding an apartment can be difficult unless you can pay. This is true for Stockholm as well. Commuting from smaller towns is very viable though, that might be more your thing. Right now with the Ukraina crisis it's going to be even more difficult, with all the refugees coming to Sweden.

From what i have understood real recycling isnt very common in the US, please prove me wrong. Another thing most Rental apartments and Bostadsrättsföreningar have recycling stations very close. The taxes and fees will be added on when u order from Non EU countries...im pretty sure if u order goods from the EU when u are in the US then US customs will add tax too......or?
@victoriaahh

Yes and no on recycling-it largely depends on the state. I grew up in NYC and real recycling was standard, And you may be right in terms of ordering goods from the EU, I think I just shopped at mostly US brands before moving here 🙂

I love that Sweden's laws and regulations are mostly the same across the entire country, unlike in the US. Alcohol sales for example: In Sweden, you know it's only sold in government regulated stores. Whereas in the US it's different in each state: In NY you can't but liquor in the grocery store, in CA you can buy liquor in the grocery store, in PA and MA it's only sold in state stores, in TX you can't buy it before noon on Sundays. Sweden just seems so well organized and transparent - much less guess work over how things are done in different parts of the country.

For all those uneducated and unaware, dont be snarky and condescending, it's not a good look for anyone, take several seats: The black Ambassador's name was Gustov and he was a gift as a child slave during the 1700s, to The Queen of Sweden at the time. In fact they tried so hard to cover up his exsistence so hard, that they nearly succeeded in erasing him from history. This is why that god awful ignorant question is posed. First of all kids, this show is based in the 1700s not the 1400s. Secondly, there were many 'black' people associated in power with white Europeans and the UK. Unfortunately, ignorance is why it is not routinely taught in all schools that this was the case, because of racism. This show is far more accurate than those who want to believe it. I did my research, this is how I know they took him from the Caribbean and enslaved him for the queen to adopt as an endentured slave child, later to become head of power in the country. Dont be so quick to assume anything. Your ignorance speaks volumes on your intelligence and critical thinking skills.

1. You can't "move to Sweden" unless you have a job waiting for you here. 2. IF you have a job waiting for you here you can get a permit to work for a set amount of time. 3. IF you want to live here, learn the language. Yes we all speak English, no you can't work here if you don't speak Swedish. This goes for all nations outside of the EU, including the UK and the US.

Sunday supose to be church day, so no need for selling alcohol!? You can get packages delivered to your door, but you need to be at home and show your ID card, and sign there tablets.. its easy, its for your own securety! There is no tax duties inside EU, buy your favorit products frome online companies inside EU! And one dont need to pay for tax declaration, thats a fee that DHL/ others need you to pay, becuse they do that job for you.. kinda american dream?? Recycling is a seriouse matter.. it easy your mind about your own footprint to the world warming, and one get some exercise to.. win-win! Electric scooters gonna be regulated, becuse they are lieying everywhere and become a hazard for pedastrians, cyclists older people and disabled.. on the pedastrian/cyclists pawed sidewalks!
