Neychoru or Kerala Style Ghee rice is a very rich Pulao recipe that is absolutely tasty. You can make it in a pressure cooker at home or in a pan. Ghee rice is a traditional south Indian pulao recipe that uses jeerakasala rice or jeerai rice but can be made using basmati rice or even sela rice.
This rice recipe is a traditional recipe and uses dry fruits and raisins cooked together with ghee. You can eat this simple pulao recipe with any vegetable curry or just serve it hot with curd.
I love to eat my punjabi style rajma with Ghee Rice and it tastes yummy. If you love jeera pulao or vegetable pulao, you would love to cook this easy Indian recipe.

How long should the rice be cooked for? I usually use a cooker so not sure about this method..the taste came out good but rice got a little burnt at the bottom

I think most of the people from kerala don't use fennel in neychoru. Rest of the ingredients are 👍

He is suggested to eat to that ghee rice with fish curry,...par log kehte hai ki ghee ya milk fish ke sath nhi khate.

It is also karnataka famous dish Especially Mandya district in Mysore Usually gowdas are specialized in this dish. No one gives credit to kannada people Ss though everything is either tamil people or kerala people.we are Not against them but idli .dosa. sambar is not dish of tamil nadu alone Kannadigas are making them from so many decades. Find out from any Reddy or Gowdas of Bangalore U can't beat their Ghee Rice and cauliflower curry👍

That thumb rule for the pulao and now for this ghee rice (നെയ്‌ ചോറ് ) is an awesome tip. The one on the salt too. By the way it tastes excellent with fried chicken (not the KFC style, but prepared with pepper) as well. Excellent recipe! Thanks for sharing.

Pls don't mention Kerala because it belongs only to North Malabar espically kannur, Calicut and Tellicherry It's our traditional dish

Avoid fennel seeds.. without jeera is more tasty. Tip from kerala. ....hai kk🥰

Fennel seeds is saunf. Cumin seeds is jeera. I don't think he used Jeera in the recipe.

We make Bengali Polau like this too…with some changes here n there…like no chilles, haldi/ kesar is added…and in khara Garam masala choti elaichi is added in place of star anise…and definitely 3-4 tbsps of sugar..!!

But sorry to say we can't consider it a salty rice because jaggery is bit in quantity n obviously after cooking onions it can't be taken as a sweet rice.
