Heartly agreed prashant ji ....स्वर्गीय पंडित भीमसेन जोशींनंतर कोणी काळजात हात घातला असेल तर तो ह्या बंदिशी द्वारा पंडित लिमयेंनी ! कानांबरोबर नेत्रही तृप्त झाले. ह्यानंतर सचिनच्या नाटकी हावभावातले गाणे पहावले नाही आणि राहुल देशपांडेंच्या आवाजातले गाणेही म्हणावे तसे जाणवले नाही. शेकडोवेळा ऐकूनही प्रत्येक वेळी नवीन बारकावा कळतो.

Vasantrao ji's rendition is the best from technical view. this version is thoroughly enjoyable and fits the script! the part where Chand aur Usman say "kaise ChaCha Jaan" and Khan Saheb says "aasan hai bete". absolutely love that part!

The movie and drama cannot be compared. In drama, the centre character is Khansaheb and the story revolves around him. Instead of hating him, you start loving him and his passion for music. In movie, Khansaheb is shown as an arrogant and egoistic person and the story revolves more around Sadashiv - Sadashiv is seeking for revenge, but in drama, sadashiv is seeking for sangeet vidya from Khansaheb and not revenge. Both should be seen with a fresh mind.

Beautiful rendition. When compared to the movie, have to say that the acting is better here. Since the singer and actor are the same, he gets intimate with the composition. Even the shagirds here know when to join in with the master. In the movie, they were portrayed more as clowns

Without Doubt. I cannot imagine anybody other than Pt.Chandrakant Limaye in the role of Khan Saheb. He is not only a GREAT SINGER but a GREAT ACTOR too.Especially the "harkaten" while singing are great and are real coming automatically because he is in real life a singer.

+Mandar Shiraskar, Coming to the movie - without getting into comparison that is not required - Sachin has portrayed the 'ahamkaar' of Khansab very well. The situation in the movie where he sings this song makes him so confident, arrogant and feel dominated (since he very well knows the reason) over Panditji. And Sachin has portrayed it so very well!!!

+Mandar Shiraskar I think as an actor on the screen Sachin was wonderful. He actually studied the style and ways of many singers you can see his interviews he has described the details...Pt. Limaye is a classical singer and also a good actor. He would also have given a rocking performance as Khansaab in the film but that is only a matter of speculation for fools like us (at least me)

I was not underestimating Sachin as an actor. In fact I also like Sachn's acting very much. But what I wanted to highlight was that after watching Pt.Chandrakant Limaye's acting in the drama, we (atleast I) cannot imagine doing Khan Saheb better than him.It is what I personally feel. Of course, people may disagree with me and I don't think people disagreeing with my opinion are fools.

This is a song from a popular Sangeet Natak (musical play) called 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusli'. In the original musical play, this role was played by Dr Vasantrao Despande composed by Pt. Jitendra Abishekhi. These type of plays are performed by the various group of actors over time. It was also made very popular by the actor/ singer Pt Chandrakant Limaye above. The first sangeet Natak was Sangeet Shakuntala around 1880. These musical plays used to be extremely popular in olden days of Marathi theatre. Balgandharva was a key figure in this area. It died out with increasing popularity of movies. However, it seems to be gaining its popularity again. Also, a movie is released by the same name and playback is given by Rahul Deshpande grandson of Dr Vasantrao.
