Thank you for the wonderful recommendation. I'm always too afraid to try something that's not usually my go-to. Now that I've seen this, I really really want to try what you just had. Appreciate this video!

You should ask Donki to sponsor you in buying Japanese items from Donki to make different kind of japanese food (e.g. Soba etc etc)
@muhammadmd2148 Жыл бұрын
Sponsorship is a double-edge sword. He'd be limited by the agreement he signed with the store when reviewing stuff.
Lol you can really eat!!! Saw the green Soba last week when i visited, didnt think it would be any good so didnt get. Now i want to get after watching you video .
Your videos are now not only ENTERTAINING, its INFORMATIVE!

This is really one of the best videos from Ken. 1. "Huat ah!, the Japanese man comes forth!" 2. "This is winter potato... makes no sense even to a Japanese like me..." 3. After all the food that can feed 4 persons for dinner, Ken was only 80% full... : )

Enjoying your enjoyment! Glad you shared your favourites. Thanks.
I buy the frozen Yakisoba from Donki - the one you pointed out. I buy a few packs, keep it in the freezer and then regularly cook it for dinner for my family using an authentic Japanese recipe. I make my own sauce too! Very easy and delicious. Love the place and all that food and thanks for pointing out which bentos are nice. Will get some on my next trip there.

Nice review at Donki. I hope you can go to Mandarin Gallery ( at somerset) to try one of the best Japanese Tonkatsu in Singapore. The restaurant name is Ma Maison. On the 2nd or 3rd floor i cannot remember.

I worked part-time in Mr. Sushi about 2 decades ago... it had akagai, tsubugai, hokkigai etc so many types of fish too. As years goes by I noticed the variety dwindled. Probably due to majority of Singaporeans' obsession with salmon. My favourite is hokkigai. Lucky some times restaurants like itacho and genki sushi have them but more expensive, of course. Can visit the sushi counter in Istetan shaw too.

Their Match Mille crepe is really good, however avoid the chirashi bowl and omu rice. The chirashi is just off cuts and parts they can't sell for sashimi and the omu rice is kinda dry.

I think akagai = cockles (which most Singaporeans know) Yes generally most asians outside of Japan prefer Salmon as raw fish sashimi maybe maybe the taste is close to smoked salmon (other fish not so popular)

Problem with sushi/sashimi is that freshness really really matters! And so in Singapore unless the shop spends a tonne of money shipping it in fresh every day (i.e. hours fresh at the most before it gets eaten), the quality really drops really fast. I think toro may not be as popular in Singapore because it seems tuna must be really fresh to taste good, at least moreso than salmon? The only place in Singapore I've eaten toro and liked was kuromaguro at Tanjong Pagar... I visited recently though, and I think they may have had to cut costs because of covid.. the wasabi was different.

80%full after eating sooo much?🤣 I talked to a Japanese staff of Donki in Hong Kong and he said that they try to keep the selling price at 120% of that in Japan including shipping fee. It should be the same for Singapore as both S’pore and HK are free port. Good job, Donki!!👍
