Maybe the ‘love’ was a one-sided obsession of Andruil towards Ghilan’nain. I have nothing else to go by this but the end, where you said that Andruil is the hunter and Ghilan’nain flees from it. But it wouldn’t be the first example in the DA universe where beauty attracts unwanted attention.
@silverpyro195 жыл бұрын
In that way it would also be similar to Greco Roman mythology's Apollo and his various unfortunate love interests.

I have a small head canon with Ghilan'nain and Andraste... I actually think the developers consciously created these myths to be roughly similar (mortal becoming divine) in order to make the mythology of the world more realistic (e.g. mimicking how we have religious stories throughout history that are very similar). In-lore, I don't know what that might mean, but I think it is a cool, realistic touch of how religious myths are created. Edit: I have absolutely no proof of this, but I like to think the devs saw our own world's religious history and was like "yeah, people do that, so our fantasy world people should do it too."

Andraste was burned to death. Hence her ashes in the sacred temple & how it was able to bring someone from the brink of death. I do believe she was an Elf.
@Goodboysforlife5 жыл бұрын
Andruil was the blind hunter in the story about Ghilan'nain. Remember that story about how Mythal took her ability to be able to find the void. Where she was hunting "wicked things that thrive in the abyss"? What if the Hawk Andruil was hunting, was Fallon Din?

If you go with lovers pairs, and being a lover gives you the power of a "god" this might be a reason that Solas breaks things off and breaks the inquisitor heart, because of what it would make her. Random thought also still not over my elven egg head.

Great video as always One thing I would add is the story Felassan tells in ME, of Fen'Harel hunting "the halla" and Andruil getting upset over it. I've always wondered if part of the reason she was so upset is that "the halla" was actually Ghilan'nain.
@thestitchwithsami5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I definitely took that story to be Solas trying to seduce Ghilanain just to piss Andruil off, because (especially in his younger days) he seemed to be quite the little shit.

@Maddox_Clayne5 жыл бұрын
I have a small theory that you had mentioned in (I think) your Falon'Din video. What if the pairs are the "Gods" and their spirit companion or something similar? I'd say aside from Elgarnan and Mythal, who may be some in between of flesh and spirit due to their sheer power, Dirthamen would be flesh while Falon'Din is a spirit. And Andruil would be flesh while Ghilanain would be spirit. My reasoning would be that Solas states that spirits manifest as a reflection of the mortal world and it's aspects, but back before the Veil, everything was changing all the time, so perhaps spirits had more free will and weren't so singular in their focus? Idk, but it is the first thing my mind thinks of.
@GhilDirthalen5 жыл бұрын
I can almost get behind that theory. Most of the pairs seem to represent some sort of duo. Vengeance and Justice (Elgar’nan/Mythal) and The Hunter and The Kill (Andruil/Ghilan’nain). Death and Secrets sort of go together, but if anything there is solid proof Dirthamen and Falon’din were spirit/flesh bond. No idea how June and Slyaise fit in, but then again June is pretty unknown. Maybe Masculine and Feminine?
@Maddox_Clayne5 жыл бұрын
@@GhilDirthalen I can see Death and Secrets being something similar to guides; Falon'Din is the guide of the dead and Dirthamen is a guide to closure and answers? And June would be the God of Crafts where Sylaise is a spirit of creation? Creating music, arts, creating fire, that sorta thing if it makes sense.
@Maddox_Clayne5 жыл бұрын
@@GhilDirthalen I forgot the lore bit where Dirthamen follows Falon'Din through the Fade. Maybe while Falon'Din is doing his job, Dirthamen is learning fade secrets? Their parallel might be more location based than an aspect.
@Witzke2313 жыл бұрын
Well I think Cole's existence provides some weight, considering he was a spirit who took a mortal form. And in the game he can remain "spirit", or you can make him more "human." Cole literally became the real Cole's truest desire; to become him but normal (non-magical.) Perhaps this is what happened during the time of the elves and it is why Solas tries to push Cole to remain true to his nature instead of warping and becoming someone like Falon'Din; a blood thirsty monster.
@Felsenkeks2 жыл бұрын
@@GhilDirthalen if it weren't for Solas being pride I'd say Dirthamen and Falon'din are Wisdom and Pride, seeing how Solas talks about how vain he was and how he craved more worshippers

What if Ghil created the broodmothers? The evanuris in their greed perhaps wanted to make soldiers similar to the dwarves with the Titans and maybe tainted one of these monstrous creations? Maybe the blight was originally meant to control the creatures only for the Evanuris and elves to realize it wasn’t controllable? A gross manipulation or corruption of Lyrium and the titan’s song?

@Beatrice Gliaudelyte As I'm not a native speaker, I did not understand that part pretty good. Soooo the statement is that "Pride" (with a capital P) stopped her hand. And as we all know Solas name means pride, so the only reason to write it with capital P is, because a person is meant, isn't ? (Or am I wrong?)

The mix of dalish and andrastean imagery and myth hits differently as a pagan, as many groups during the spread of Christianity began blending their theologies and deities with biblical imagery and backgrounds but once the church began to solidify their influence outwards these beliefs were labeled as heretical and items only a desperate handful of individuals believed in till they either were executed or died out from other circumstances

I think the fact that other animals that are represented by the gods here is important. Falon Din is commonly associated with the Hawe. In fact, there seems to be some conflict between Solas (the wolf) Andruil (the hunter) Mythal (dragon) and Falon Din (hawk). I think the hunter who binds and blinds Ghailan;nain is Andruil.

So… Qunari as creations of Ghilan’nain? Yes/no? Could perhaps the “finely wrought” monsters that are from the “deep sea” be actual sentient Qunari from a far away location, using “deep” not as a descriptor of the water’s depth, but as a descriptor of distance, such as one might say “the deep desert” or “the deepest part of the forest”. So the deep sea is just the farthest part of the sea from the civilized Elvhen empire? It would make sense for Solas to stop her, then. He cares a great deal about innocent lives.

Maybe all the Elven Gods are connected by a sort of yin and yang of nature, and that's why Fen'harel is the outsider, with no yang to his Yin. But that's doesn't necessarily mean they are all lovers, just bound souls.
