The real reason for the phone rule was it was being filmed for a movie/concert film. The Forum shows are the only shows on the tour that had that rule.

Yep, this is the first time I've ever heard of Ghost doing something like that - the true real reason must be they wanted not to have a sea of phone screens in the proshot concert footage. We have had to rely on fan footage from the very beginning to follow the tours, if they aren't stopping by anywhere locally - and I'm sure it's contributed greatly to the band's popularity taking off.. Ghost have been very good at allowing fan shot footage (and reactions) on youtube - in fact this may be the first proshot concert they have ever recorded. I have 340GB of fan footage backed up.. it's been great that it's so available I remember talking to Tobias after a gig in 2015 about how many blurays Japanese bands put out in comparison.. almost one for every tour.. and at the time he was saying he was trying to find the right show to get recorded for a release.. seems like he finally found the place 👻 I do disagree with David's summary of "if you're recording you're not enjoying the concert" - I do like to record, but I do it with a small pocket cam with screen dimmed to minimum so it doesn't really get in anyone's way. I probably use 5% of my attention on aiming that and 95% on rocking out \m/

@@Wagoo yeah that and no spoiling of the upcoming movie content. I love when bands put out live shows. Seems like it's getting a lot rarer these days. Maybe they think it's a bad business move, they might think they lose a percentage of live attendance, those who are satisfied with a recorded live show as a substitute for going. Awesome with all fan footage on yt, that's the positive aspect of phone zombies lol

This is from an interview Tobias Forge did for Metal Hammer Oct 2023: "Over the years, I've come to understand that a lot of our fanbase are, in one way or another, outsiders or that their lives are lonely or they're struggling with something. It feels like there's a lot of hurt among our fanbase, and I want to address that. They've found a kind of belonging being in this group of Ghost fans." This is one of the reasons why I love this band. TF genuinely cares for his fans.

Ghost has one of the healthiest fan bases I have ever seen. Ghost fans are so nice to each other (as you noticed at the concert), and they embrace each other so much, it's one of the things I really love about this band because you think with the whole "worship the devil" thing, they would not be so soft and kind? You see people dressed as devil nuns, skulls, devils, goats, etc, and they have recently been to Brazil, and the amount of "belonging" the fans felt staying on the line for the show, the show itself, the after-show. It was amazing. It was really touching that you had such a unique experience at the show,! Despite the mask he wears, his eyes are very expressive, and I really believe he looked at you! So nice to have this memory for life! I don't usually comment much on KZbin because of nasty replies, but I have been watching your Ghost reactions, sometimes I agree, sometimes not, but I enjoy your thoughts anyway, so keep up the good work, my good man! This Ghostie here will haunt your channel for more Ghost reactions!

I saw them in Mexico City in 2020 just before pandemic close, and the comedy was insane, Tobias make everyone purr like cats at some point, we also sing happy birthday to him and he say "I think I know how you are talking about, I know some people how will tell him you sing beautifuly to him" so he never broke caracther

Fun extra fact: Jutty Taylor who you clocked as the multi-use ghoul (Swiss to fans) also dresses up like Papa Nihil and plays the sax. Dude can do anything. As for the comedy, Tobias has said in interviews he is influenced by Monty Python.

Ghost is a great example of not letting negative people affect your life and your work. They have so many haters talking crap online, but that doesn't stop them from putting out amazing shows. I usually dont see Ghost fans retaliate or talk back 😂. It's very nice. We are just going to let all the negativity slide right off of us, and we are going to keep killing it and loving Ghost 🖤.

Forgive me for making a second comment on your video. I just watched the second half, when you made the comments about the moment Tobias seemed to have connected with you, and the impact he made on you. Ghost is a home for a lot of people of all ages who feel alienated. In a recent interview with Metal Hammer, Tobias said, “Over the years, I’ve come to understand that a lot of our fanbase are, in one way or another, outsiders or that their lives are lonely or they’re struggling with something. It feels like there’s a lot of hurt among our fanbase, and I want to address that. They’ve found a kind of belonging being in this group of Ghost fans.” I have felt this myself, but not at a show... I found Ghost when I was going through chemotherapy. My body and soul were down, and the music carried me through. It still does.

I love your reactions. I’m sorry you were being trolled. I’m glad you enjoyed the concert and I am SO GLAD you had the “moment” with Tobias/PapaIV. You were in that place at that time for that reason. Don’t question, just accept that it was whatever you want to call it ( fate, grace, a hand tip from a higher power, a gift). I hope Tobias hears about it because you both deserve that.

Been a Ghost fan since 2016. My 12-year old son has already seen them twice. Simply amazing live or otherwise. I've been following this channel for maybe over a year. I enjoy different reaction channels for different reasons. However, this particular video was something on another level. While it was for a concert versus reacting to a specific song it was really great. Having just recently seen Rite Here Rite Now (the movie filmed at the concert you attended) this video gave a lot of context and the If You Have Ghosts portion hit right in the heart. Great channel!

Saw them first time as a pre act from Metallica in about 2014 and there is a reason why they become my most visited band of all time. I saw them play for 1000 people, than 6000 and last time over 20000 people. Ghost live is just an experience and I can only recommend everybody to visit a ritual, if its anyway possible for you. Its worth it! And David I'm glad you had a great time at the concert. There will always be "these" people and unfortunately they're the loudest most of the time. But man you got way more people who appreciate you and your work, so keep going🤘🏼 Respite on the Spitalfields is a song I would love to see a reaction one day.

Respite's guitar 🎸 solo is so freaking beautiful. It transports me somewhere. Touches the soul, if possible. Then, when it moves into Imperium again, chef's kiss. At Ritual to hear the ghoulettes harmonizing on the melody line....damn....it brings tears....just absolutely beautiful despite its dark theme of Jack the Ripper. Tobias has done extensive research, and he truly believes he knows who it was. Listen to the Morbid podcast featuring Ghost/aka--Tobias. It's really a relaxed and entertaining interview

The reason that phones weren't allowed in for these two concerts is very simple. They were filming them for a movie, due to come out in 2024. Tobias has been confirmed since. All other concerts/gigs have allowed phones and filming. Glad you enjoyed it! I haven't been to a gig myself. I got into Ghost only at the end of last year, after they toured the UK... I loved your description of Year Zero. Tobias sometimes says he doesn't like the mastering of that whole album (Infestissumam). Live versions are fabulous. My favourite is the one from Hellfest 2016, with Papa III. The guy who 'did a little bit of everything' has the nickname, 'Swiss'. That's short for Swiss Army Knife, as in, can do just about everything..!

Great story, awesome moment. I like when artists recognize the opportunity they have to make that kind of impact. There is a live Devin Townsend performance where he says something along the lines of “take this with you to work next week” before launching into a huge uplifting crescendo, it’s such a good sentiment.

I've been waiting for this! I'm really glad you had a great time! I, like yourself, have only recently become a fan of ghost and have been wanting to see them live so bad! I've seen their live videos and everything just looks so amazing! I also wanted to say that, I've only seen a couple dozen of you videos and while I like them, I can see how it's not everyone's cup of tea. I'm sorry to hear that you've had to deal with the negative BS that comes along with youtube comments and I think I really commend you for sharing your story. There's a weird psychological thing where you could get 100 comments but if only one or two of them are negative that's all you can focus on. I hope you can hold on to that uplifting feeling you got and ignore the negative ones because from what I've seen you're just a man doing his best and I have nothing but respect for you.

Then how you explained how Tobias really made an impact on you in that performance and what he said and looking at you, that really hit me too. I cried with you man. Tobias was your saviour that day, you needed to hear that and in the way you described was so beautiful. I had an experience at my Ghost Concert too and I have never had that with any show I have seen. It was so special to me and I am glad you got to see experience the beauty that is Ghost. I do hope Tobias sees this video. I have only recently discovered your channel and I am really enjoying it and hearing your thoughts and opinions. Especially from a fellow bass player. Hey Dave good emotional reaction, always great when music and shows can touch us like that! I was at the Ghost Ritual at the 2nd night at the Forum. Wondering your opinion on the acoustics there? I've been to pretty much all the LA concert locales (indoor and out) multiple times and I consistently find the acoustics a the Forum to be disappointing . I've seen the same band (like at Staples for instance) where the sound was great and then seen them the next year at the Forum and I also am stricken by how bad the sound quality is . Awesome review David, i'm glad you enjoyed the show and had that extra beautiful, significant moment to take home with you, forever. Tobias is constantly paying attention to the well being of the fans during shows and he also acknowledges the possible struggles we all go through, so for Ghost is very important to give you a great time, but also a sense of belonging and companionship that can help you through hard times, i know that's nothing new among rock bands, but somehow the way Ghost does it, to give you that, is really special. Maybe that's why the fan base is so nice and united too. I'm from Santiago, Chile and i also saw Ghost live a couple of weeks ago ( this was my 3d time) and even though they have always been amazing live, i was blown away by how big, fun and overall spectacular their shows have become over the years. This last tour was perfection! Oh, and i love the way you approach reactions and reviews, using your knowledge as a musician, being objective, and taking the time to actually deep dive in the music 👏 so don't pay attention to stupid haters. Your content is different to other reactors and that's why we are here for 😊 Great shirt btw, i'm a huuuge fan of Tom Waits🙌

I love your channel and reviews. My friend took me to the concert as a gift. I knew a few songs, but never delved into them. OMG, I was blown away. I've been going to concerts for 40+ years and am now addicted. Ive watched a ton of TB interviews, youtube concert videos, tiktoks, etc. Saw them in Phoenix, its was 112 degrees here, outside and they put on one of the best things I've ever experienced. I'll probably get hate for this, but purely on a production level, it was a marriage of Slipknot and TSO for me. The talent on stage, impeccable and now I'm following the ghouls individual careers and supporting them as well. Their music brings me back to my youth and can't wait for the next tour. I plan on traveling to see them several times because you just cant experience it all one time. Thank you for realness and being vulnerable. Music does that to me too. ❤

First time I saw Ghost was at The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC in May of 2014, on their spring supporting tour for Infestissumam. The Orange Peel had an 1100 person capacity. I’ve seen them seven times since all in much larger venues, even outdoor venues. And I’ve never been disappointed in the least. But that show in Asheville is still in my top three of hundreds of shows over the years. And maybe number 1. Even back then, having just released their second album, the stage presence and the way they worked the crowd was the best of any band I’ve ever seen live.

A bit late but I really appreciate all your reactions. You keep things real and fresh. I recently got into Ghost about 4 months ago and a bunch of your reactions of them showed up. I’ve seen all of them and I really enjoyed your take on all the songs. I want to see Ghost live someday and I’m happy that you were able to! Keep up the good content man

I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed the show, I’ve been excited for this review! (And I’m so mad at KZbin for not telling me it was up sooner 😂) I’m sorry to hear you’ve been dealing with trolls, but I hope it brings you comfort to know that your videos bring joy to so many. For me, this is one of my biggest comfort channels and something that always helps when my anxiety and being overwhelmed from being an autistic person in a noisy world becomes too much. Thank you for this and every other video, I appreciate them so much ❤

So glad you had a good time at the Ghost show. They are one of the few bands that I've traveled to different states to see. They are totally real musicians and are so skilled at what they do. I also want to say that I like your commentary in your videos. I feel like your an old school metal fan like me and props to you for making this content. I know it's not easy at all. Also KING DIAMOND RULES!!! \,,/

The Chicago show this year was my first one and it’s changed me so much. Your story was beautiful and I’m happy you had that moment with him. Keep up with the reactions if it’s not too tiring or stressful. I love watching them and seeing you break them down musically. 🤗❤

I watched them for the first time in 2014 with my daughter. She actually introduced me to Ghost. 4 concerts later, and I was their driver this year in Oslo. They are as we Scandinavians usually tend to be - very down to earth. Nice review you have here. Tobias has a good heart. He has been through a lot. I recommend a podcast he did years ago talking about his life and how he lost his brother from a heart attack. It shaped him.

Great and honest review! I've been to concert since the mid 80's, starting with Iron Maiden, and Ghost is a band that I feel perform as proper enthusiasts and with an honest will to please their fans. About the trolls, I understand your reaction, but try to remember that we are many who watch video after video from you and appreciate your reaction. Even when a reaction is not in line with my own view, I still enjoy it because there's an explanation and a reasoning. Keep on going!

It makes sense with fitting in songs from the new album, but man, it would've been interesting (and probably entertaining) if they had still played Monstrance Clock as the closer, and to get your thoughts on that one. 😆 I wish I remembered more from the show I went to, granted that was almost five years ago. I do remember Year Zero being pretty surreal -- the fullness, the pyro, everyone singing along. I'm glad it was all a great experience for you, and that the show stood out in as many ways as it did. Oh, and cool detail about the time signatures in Faith! I started getting emotional from the story of _that_ moment, partly thinking about something I experienced recently, just through a different medium. It's amazing to find something that resonates so much, to make a connection like that, and it makes the negativity insignificant by comparison.

Joe Elliott, yes, that one, covered Spillways...they made a Chapter out of it on the official channel. It's Joe's favorite off of Impera. Ritual is from 1st record Opus Eponymous. It's why they call their concerts Rituals. I love it. Watcher in the Sky off of Impera is one of my favorites.

I had a similar experience at my first Ritual back at their Concord show. I was having a crappy few weeks prior due to a situation at work. Partway through the show he said that we all are fighting our own demons and issues but tonight we should try to put all of that aside and try to have fun. I didn’t know I needed to hear it at the time but it was my small moment I had that I’ve never experienced at a concert. I also agree with your overall assessment, for me it’s easily the best show I’ve ever been to. The production, sound, music and energy from the band made it a show I’m going to compare all other shows I go to now. Even with the comedy and shenanigans going on stage they all looked like they were just having fun, even if it was staged it kept me glued to paying attention to what was going on instead of being on my phone. I heard that the Forum shows they were going to be doing a professional music video. At least that’s what other folks sitting around us said that said they were planning on going to that show too.

They must have used an altered set list for that show probably for the movie or whatever they are making of the footage.. They played From the Pinnacle To the Pit when I saw them in Chicago. Glad to hear you enjoyed the show and I know it's hard, but don't let the haters get to you. It's amazing how much the Nameless Ghouls can interact with the crowd and each other even though you aren't able to see their faces.

David - I regularly go back to your 'All Nightmare Long' reaction. It's so amazing to see you come back around to Metallica. Like meeting an old high school sweetheart. (btw Papa Het LOVES ghost - youtube it !) I also love Ghost. Wasn;t expecting you to get emotional here - remember, for all the haters who type an awful comment in 10 seconds - there's a dude that sent you amazing tickets. We all focus on the bad. You're recent community post - I commented that (I dont watch half your vids tbh because of the songs. But when its a song I know and love I'm clicking immediately) I had tickets to Ghost and missed it. Expensive. Wasnt even able to sell them on. I paid and missed it. Focus on how you got there. F the rest. Love you man. Keep rockin'' So happy you enjoyed the show. Haters gonna hate... because they don't know love. Now excuse me.. I'm gonna watch your All Nightmare vid because IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD. Thank you

Twenties is my top 3 songs. Took 3 or 4 listens to click and I can't get enough of it. Would love to see you react. Also must do Respites and Marry on a cross since you don't remember them. Mummy dust is amazing live and Papa's vibe and dance is phenomenal along with great keytar solo. You don't need to react to it I feel like won't like it as much, it's deff better live. Shame about Miasma since that sax solo is best plot twist for reactions but I love that you saw it live usually they have Papa Nihl playing it but since you didn't bring it up... Was he there?

Hey DH, keep something in mind when you receive negative comments around your persona or your content. Those who do that are cowards and petty people, always remember you're the breave one, it takes a big pair to expose yourself, do a review channel,l and defend your point of view, YOU are the brave one, because it's SO easy to offend and attack someone anonymously, I bet NONE of them would say nothing to your face if they'd see you out there, it's just sad petty people with egos so fragile that depend on someone else's to validate the things they like. And if it was another KZbinr orchestrating this, do not engage into controversy, let them do their thing, because your business is all about being a great person spreading good entertainment and your business is going VERY well. You're a badass for doing what you do, never forget.

Many people react differently and notices stuff different, focus on some things others may not. There's literally infinity of reaction channels so it's not like there's no one to watch. I can't phantom leaving hate for something so non important. It was sweat seeing you emotional like this, I'm happy you got heald in a way especially since you really needed it. Last show I attended you had to have a phone as that is where your ticket resides. They would not take a paper copy. Not sure I'm all that fond of this sort of thing, but I guess it takes care of fake tickets. On another tack, I watch your channel daily. I do this just because I like the way you do things and your overall honesty. Keep up the good work as you have a major fan.
