I have to also mention that just because I don't like Forge's new direction doesn't mean I think everyone should feel the same. It's just like when Mercyful Fate broke up in early 85' ... King Diamond got us fans INTO the spirit of the ideology,aesthetics and MYSTERY behind Mercyful Fate and then when making his solo ep he comes out with a humor "No presents for Christmas". ? It's like Judas Priest 84' with a campaign flying the flag for heavy metal with an album Defenders of the Faith...then they come out with humor " Turbo". Ghost got fans of 2010 into the same thing then boom... no more Papa that was kick ass,dark and MYSYERIOUS.... now here is a comedian "Cardinal Copia". It's like Metallica kicking ass the entire 1980's and then "The Black Album" hit...Load,Reload etc... It's just like watered down Ghost to me. But to others it's his best direction etc... So be it.

As someone whose opinion is that Opus Eponymous still is Ghost's best album (by far), Prequelle is anything but great. Very weak pop rock album.

Yep... I was surprised at how lauded this album was. When I saw Ghost in May, they played Faith live and got me psyched for Prequelle. Then I listened to it, and it was a let-down. Starts off strong with Rats and Faith, and See the Light is solid... after that, the album is a downhill descent until it whimpers to an end with Life Eternal. The memorable guitar riffs, organs, and chord changes of the first three albums have been traded out in favor of a nebulous sound that is too poppy for its own good. And TWO instrumentals? Maybe if they were bangers like Rush's YYZ or Metallica's Orion, but they're not. I get to the end of Prequelle feeling like it never started in earnest, when in reality it clocks in at the same runtime (~42 mins) as the last album. I'm not asking for Meliora part 2, but Ghost lost the plot here. Most of Prequelle sounds like a callback to the 80s, and not in a good way.

I loved Ghost from 2010 to the studio album Meliora 2015. Once Papa took off his hat he began to harness HUMOR instead of MYSTERY. Ruined the TOUR so I did not go. Then the terrible Pope Star EP was released with 14 year old girls listening to Square Hammer. Forge had a golden opportunity to rule the underground with a decent amount of CASH $$ but wanted more $$. Metallica's Black album,Judas Priest's Turbo album,Iron Maiden's NPFTD and FOTD albums,Ozzy Ultimate Sin album... all albums I hate and hate the direction those bands although Judas Priest recovered from this horse shit.... Ghost Prequell reminds me of all that crap all over again. Totally disappointed. He will try to bring back Papa in a few years but it's too late. It'll never work. Forge RUINED the band.

Well, Papa still had the hat on when he wrote Body and Blood, which is a pretty damn campy song. Next, while I agree that Black was shit, I don't think the other albums were bad. I also don't think this is the demise of the band. Tobias desires to make stadium rock, and he is making it happen. Everyone who thought Ghost was metal has their panties in a bunch, but they were never metal...hard rock at times, soft rock more lately, but I only see them getting bigger and better...
