Confused how they can say every Ghost song sounds the same. Not really mad, just genuinely confused. As far as modern bands go, Ghost is extremely varied with their songs. Very few songs sound the same and each album has its own unique style as a whole. So far each song they've reacted to has been completely different in their style, sometimes even genre, and they've not even checked out the most unique songs yet. Compare this song to "Zenith", "Year Zero", "Dance Macabre" or "He is" for example; none of those songs sound anything alike. I dunno, just seems weird, and frankly kind of hypocritical for them to say that, considering most bands they listen to are *actually* extremely repetitive, and Ghost is definitely one of the furthest from that.

From my own take and analysis I'd guess this song was specifically about the lawsuit from the former nameless ghouls, that believe Forge was screwing them out of money, while also being about the plague. "Accuser sends the bill, faith is mine, implying that the band was HIS idea etc.) As far as science explaining things eventually, that isn't what they mean. They mean that eventually a scientist will figure out what goes on with that. We didn't know what caused earthquakes, we figured that out. We had no clue what dinosaurs were, but we had those fossils, those were cool. We could figure it out. And as far as having faith. I prefer the term reasonable certainty. The sun comes up every day. I can be reasonably certain when it goes down it'll come back up. And, that reasonable certainty is based solely on the evidence of what's been observed. That's not dishonesty that's a way you look at things. Faith is defined as belief withOUT evidence guys. That's the difference. And I know y'all understand that. I won't even deny I have "faith". I have faith that I buy a thing online it'll arrive. And if it doesn't I'll go to the seller to complain or the site itself, for instance. Anyway sorry for the long ramble. Enjoyed the video despite the disagreement on the idea of faith.

As an atheist, comparing someone who believes in unicorns to someone who believes in God is rather silly. Religion in general, but specifically Christianity, has a lot of power in society, especially in politics. Someone believing in unicorns has no effect on my life, politicians creating and changing laws to attempt to have them conform to their personal religious beliefs does. If religion in general had no effect on my daily life, I would wholeheartedly agree with you about not engaging with people who believe in some kind of God, but that is not the case.

@huey2k2
@huey2k2 6 жыл бұрын
Of course everyone's world view affects their politics, that is the nature of it. But as an atheist, the idea that legislation is passed that effects my every day life based on trying to appease some mythical being, whether it be God or a unicorn, is absurd. If your world view is based on things that are tangible and can be shown to exist using some form of approved method, scientific or otherwise, then I can accept the idea that someone might want to pass laws based on those beliefs even if I do not agree with them. But the idea that people are passing legislation on things that are 100% purely based on faith and absolutely nothing else is something I cannot support and will fight against until the day I die.

I love that this is basically a track slamming his former bandmates. The line "I am all eyes, I am all ears, I am the wall, and I'm watching you fall" (from Tobias' own point of view) sounds like he's basically saying that he (as Tobias himself) sees and hears everything regarding his former ghouls, whether it's social media, or hearsay, whatever. "And I'm watching you fall" is kinda like he's saying "I see you trying to be as successful as me, and you're failing". "A perpetrator with a quill...The accuser sends the bill" seems to be an obvious nod to the lawsuit, as does the line "a pack of fools can take the stand.. Ha!" "Although it.. stinks, feels, and looks identical" Sounds like the former Ghouls' other band (I can't remember their name, I wanna say it's Priest, but please, correct me if I'm wrong) that almost tries to copy the "Ghost method", if you will, with the Plague Doctor masks, air of mystery around them, etc. Or, you take it as Satan being omnipresent, because, ya know...Satan. and Ghost. 🤷‍♂️

It drives me nuts when some people equate "god" faith with every day faith, like the faith of a pilot landing the plane safely. They are not at all the same. Technically it's the same word, but not the same meaning. You'd be right if all the pilots died mid flight and the plane had to land safely on its own (I guess with the help of God?) The faith that God will land the plane is not the same as the faith in a pilot that has a 100% success rate. Further, you really need faith with God because the success rate is exactly the same as pure statistical chance.

The song is Faith from Satan's point of view. Him seeing ,hearing ,him being a fly on the wall, meaning he sees and hears everything you do. Satan seeing the fall of man. When he talks about a pack of fools can take the stand,I think that is reference to the lawsuit Tobias had going on with former band members. I love Ghost's lyrics, they always have more than one meaning. But some may not know if they are not looking, listening to it. Faith is important whether you believe in God or not. The entire song is about the lawsuit and has nothing to do with Satan. Also, Satan is not the antithesis of God. They are not even comparable. Satan is a created being and is not all-seeing or all-powerful. That said, however, he IS the most intelligent, beautiful, and powerful being that God ever created. The first verse section is literally talking about him being the writer, how it was a mystery who the people in the band were and how they were trying to sue him for more money. The second verse is how those same people were trying to replicate Ghost and how it almost looks the same but it's shit in comparison, and them taking the stand in court. The very first time I heard this song, I had chills. Musically it is VERY well put together. Lyrically, it's layered in multiple meanings, so it's a pick and choose sort of thing. Live, this song was INSANE. I feel like you would need to see them in concert to really feel the energy- which is tremendous. I've seen David Bowie, Sting, The Cure etc live. Ghost gives a very similar energy out to the audience. Bu,t Vin is right, there is definitely a formula that is followed. That's what makes good, marketable songwriting. That's kind of how you do it if you aren't a prog-oriented band.

Also his assertion that they would still be the same person if that god didn't exist could be true to an extent, but the whole purpose of having these arguments to is show exactly that. +VinAnd Sori my issue with your atheist statement isn't that they were atheists. The issue I have is the blanket statement about it being "atheism" that caused it. There are religions in which they are atheists, but it isn't their atheism that is the root cause. For example... The buddhists that are killing muslims, I can't say it is their atheism OR their buddhism that is the cause of their atrocities. They have the perceived threat that those muslims are trying to take over their country and given the examples of what muslim majority countries do is not entirely baseless. But simplifying it the way you do seems biased, because at the base level, yes you could say then it is the threat to their atheism or buddhism that is causing it therefore it is based on that. But why stop there? Why not go all the way to they are humans and thats what humans do? Or in the case of a god, that is the way god created us so that will happen?

The first treaty he ever signed was with the Catholic church. Every German soldier marched with a belt buckle on that said "God with us/God is on our side". The Russians had been telling their people for centuries before the 20th century that their head of state was a superhuman who was "between heaven and earth", and essentially invented the concept of "leader worship". Ghost - Body & Blood Also, this album has a theme of the black plague on several songs. I wouldn't say it's the whole album, but several songs definitely follow the theme. It also has thinly veiled references to former members that have sued Tobias over money/rights to certain things within the band (hence, why the "singer" of the band is now Cardinal Copia and not Papa Emeritus, as someone previously involved with the band has claimed they own the Papa character) This song is definitely one of those "Fuck You" type songs to former members.

14:49 This was a half-demented rant, and twisting the definitions of "faith". A simple Google yields two definitions (pulled from Merriam-Webster, I do believe): "complete trust or confidence in someone or something." or "strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof." Those are two different concepts on the same thing, and nobody is denying the fact that humans lend credence to certain established trends that help run our culture, or day-to-day world (like my mail showing up around the same time 6 days a week), BUT forefront faith in peer-reviewed science (as per the method) is FAR different than having belief in a unexplainable, unprovable supernatural force. Apples and oranges here, dude. You also spoke on skepticism. It is wise to hold a general level of skepticism in life. Those accepting all things, on blind-faith, are sheep.

Pretty decent analysis. I love the fact you actually don't research things. Many things across all forms of media is about interpretation. It's interesting to see if the message the creator tries to convey hits the mark or not. Seeing your reaction/analysis of a song even if wrong to the message trying to be conveyed is very important for that reason.

Big difference between science and religion is that science provides physical evidence (in which you can trust) for what's known, and just say "i don't know" to what's not known (yet); religion provides no physical evidence (requiring blind faith in a book) and fills every "i don't know" with "god did it, thus he's real", the god of the gaps.
@koolkid.7552

What if science is trying to hinder our intuition in a way,a foreknowledge of things beyond this reality,its like someone telling you when your a child don't think this way or that way,in a sense just like religion it possibly blocks a spiritual advancement,and that in turn would make some of us angry.
@AvoCamilo
@AvoCamilo 6 жыл бұрын
What would scientists gain by doing that?, science is not against religion, it's just constantly moving forward regardless, trying to understand and explain how reality works, not making up claims without evidence. There's no real proof of a "beyond", thus scientists don't talk about it.
@koolkid.7552
@koolkid.7552 6 жыл бұрын
@@AvoCamilo I'm not saying scientist has anything to gain by it,but it has no real value when it comes to a common necessity that many humans deal with on a daily basis and that's there livelihood within the realm of a constant need for something that science cant fill,its innate, how can we deny something that most of us have engrained as to eternal life,science will never fill that void,its useless in that regard,and so it goes, there is definitely things we could hold on to spiritually, that are quite convincing and experiences people have had to make you think,either way we are just energy condensed we just label things and divide something that should be considered one,even many psysiscst are starting to realize that,and it would be foolish not to take a small leap of faith regarding god,so on and so forth
@AvoCamilo
@AvoCamilo 6 жыл бұрын
Dunno what you mean, i'm happy with what science can explain, more and more each day (i bet you're too, having a phone or pc), so i see no point in randomly filling the gaps of knowledge with a god to "explain" what we yet don't know. I also don't really care about spirituality or eternal life, yet i feel great and i'm doing good, you shouldn't apply your own life experience toward others, we're all different.

Great song. I don't know HOW you can say Ghost is repetitive and formulaic. They are one of the most diverse bands I've ever seen. Should definitely give Life Eternal a listen. I think Sori would love it. Always enjoy you analysis. Most of this album is about the Black Plague. Some of it, however, involves subtle and not-so-subtle slams against former bandmates, lawyers, the media, and of course, Christianity. There's a huge difference between faith with verifiable evidence, and blind submissive faith. There are very very few people in the world who actually have faith. Most who claim to have religious faith, simply don't, as clearly evidenced by their behavior. Most times, it's an excuse to set themselves above others.

The interpretation of this song, as I see it, is at first obvious but there's layers of subtlety to it......The first is the ego and paucity of worldly leaders...."a perpetrator with a quill"....signing orders you'll never have to carry out..."a fecal trail across the land" monkeys throwing shit at each other over the biggest tree..... "I am all eyes, I am all ears, I am the Wall And I'm watching you fall Faith is mine" This is where it gets layered. First-pass, it's the ego of a world-leader; I know everything, you don't get to know until I tell you and your life is no concern of mine...but you must still vote for me to continue this pattern of abusive behaviour - I don't see you, I don't hear you, I will be emotionally vacant, but you still have to trust me. The second layer is Lucifer. He would say the same things, except the "Wall" for him would be the blockade of the sh'tan, the Fall would be him leading people into their worst life, and his Faith is in himself and himself only. He covets faith...but, whilst he can bend people to his will, none will truly love in faith. The third layer, is Christ. With Christ, these are not statements of the ego, they are a prayer. Say those words in humility, they fit very well to the teachings of Jesus; "I am all eyes" - I seek to see through the eyes of my brothers and sisters, with empathy. "I am all ears" - I never bear false witness ( this also means don't gossip) "I am the wall" - this one is more subtle, but it basically means "I will show you how climb and rise" "And I'm watching you fall" - well, this is either a cry of empathy or a celebration as it could be "I'm watching you fall from grace" or "I'm watching you fall away from awful things" "Faith is mine" - bear true witness to oneself.

That christian arrogance really shined through when you talked about faith...and totally missjudged science. It's not FAITH in something that we can prove it is a imperical truth if it cannot be disproven by anyone or anything(time, space, natural law etc). We may not understand everything but we constantly improve our ability to understand our existence in reality with the tools of science, instead of roaming aimlessly and have faith and being arrogant saying it's GOD or FAITH when you feel it's too complicated or complex...You show that you don't want to make an effort to understand or even try, but completely shun those who do, and just because it goes over YOUR heads such as quantum theory or astrophysics etc, doesn't equal that others put FAITH in other scientist. Science is all about trying to poke holes in their own thesis or theories and peer review to encourage other to try and disprove a thesis. YES not all scientists are perfect or even close to it, they are just as corruptable as anyone, thats why we have peer review and a consensus of OBJECTIVE truth so they can try their best to dissprove the thesis. There are good and imperical science which is the things no one yet has been able to dissproved and then we have bad/junk science which usuaslly are a consequence of economical bribery to ensure a desired outcome AKA corrupted scientist, then we have pseudo-science which is ideological driven and working from the theory backwards that looks at the things that proves your thesis and disregarding everything else and trying to prove a cause and effect where there is none. If you don't have the tools to seperate these things when you read science...thats on YOU not on science. You have to obtain the skills necessary to be able to seperate them. The difference between being gullable or sceptic is how you understand how science works. If we can't agree on objective truth, all is lost. like if a study doesn't have a control group, blind, double or triple blind tests, account for all variants and nuonses etc. like you trying to understand if eating meat is healthier or if a vegan/vegetarian diet is better is a great exampel on how bad science has misslead the sheep to believe that eating green is better in all aspects, which according to imperical science its 100% WRONG, with the most rigerous and sturdy scientific studies show that eating meat is the best for most people, for digestion, for long life, environmental reasons etc etc...why people disagree is because they don't know the difference between imperical, junk and pseudo science. like if the study is made on animals instead if humans BIG RED FLAG, no control group or glucouse test. before and after tests, blood type, ethnicity, other health issues, blood type, weight, smoking or drinking all this. it takes time and effort to go to the bottom of things. So if the people doesn't have the means or understanding we keep them in a fighting state and they capitalize and degrade our health decade after decade and keep us enslaved in useless battles of truths... Funny how you then turn to talk about the evidence for the biblical shit. so right there you put faith in that evidence which is a contradiction to the criticism you just gave to the science community...you werent there at the time, you haven't examinated it personally, all real science has disproven most things claimed in the bible, which if you read roman planetary gods, greek pantheon, pheonicians, babylonian, buddhism, hinduism, norse mythology or egyptology that ALL predates christianity it would be clear as day for you where the bible comes from or if Jesus was alive or not or who the character might be. The faith bullshit is an intellectual turn off and puts a sinful level of pride in your souls which does not serve the greater good at all. now im tired of trying to put yall in your place, but this is why we don't like christains at all because of this blind faith being used as a security blanket because you fear the unknown just as much of doing the actual work because you don't want to appear less intelligent instead you laugh it off and shun in instead of trying to DISSPROVE it. Childish level of argument and should be left as an embarrissing trait of humans 2000 years ago. Swedish Impious Viking OUT! P.S not sorry for spelling/grammar errors, havent proof read it at all ;)

I agree, they really seem like good people and pretty mellow for being American Christians after all. But this low resolution understanding of Atheism, the blind faith part really is bad, and hinders them from learning very essential knowledge of the 20th century. Like the argument of atheism being the leading cause behind the evil of Stalin, Hitler, Mao or Hussein. The arrogant believe in the biblical moral superiority is quite distasteful if im being honest, and really shows the lack of knowledge of who really where behind the genocide of the 20th century.
