From 2020, Bill Whitaker reports on untraceable firearms, called ghost guns, which are handcrafted via legally purchased gun kits.
This week, a new federal regulation took effect that requires the kits to include serial numbers and mandates background checks for people who buy the kits from dealers.

Ghost gun is a government manufactured slang term for homemade firearms, which are perfectly legal, provided you're not a convicted felon. These "kits" are not the only way to create a homemade gun.

Criminals don't care about gun laws. It's not the gun but the psychopath.

Imagine thinking a serial number is what will stop someone from getting something they shouldn’t have

Did you know that a stolen gun with the serial numbers scratched off is labeled a ghost gun as well, to boost the statistics for gun control. There are very few actually owner made guns involved in a crime. Once again, its criminals, not law abiding citizens breaking the law.

The concept of allowing law enforcement agencies track and trace gun sales, point of sale, all previous owners, etc. doesn't stop in any way, shape, or form criminals from committing crimes with a firearm.

FYI its perfectly legal to manufacture firearms for personal use as long as you are not legally barred from owning a firearm.

Most criminals don’t use “ghost guns” because making a gun requires actual work 😏

“California has the most restrictive gun laws in the country and yet is the epicenter of ghost guns”, what does that tell you?

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Making a gun yourself, in your own home, is not in anyway interstate commerce. Regulation and restriction are not only infringement by a tyrannical overstep by our federal and state governments.

"Skirting" the law? Yet then you say it is perfectly legal. No laws were ever "skirted". Home built firearms for personal use have been legal since before the USA was a country. Selling unserialized firearms is already illegal. Using a firearm to commit a crime is already illegal. They also like to say these can be built in an hour. Complete useless bullcrap.

“Build a ghost gun and no one knows you have it!” That’s the point. And I’m for it. Gov doesn’t need to know anything about me.

Homemade firearms have always been legal and a part of American 2A History all the way back to the founding of the nation. In fact, a lot of the firearms used in the revolutionary war were made by the colonists themselves.

It is a constitutionally protected right to build and own your own firearm. Governmental oversight on this constitutional right is tyranny. And tyranny is exactly why we used guns to resist and defend our freedom from the British in the first place. We must defend our right and fight tyranny, domestic and foreign.
