The depression system Robin has when she like uses uneeded moves until Jay uses Encourage reminds me of the Homesick problem Ness had in Earthbound. Ness if he was homesick would sometimes to the intended action but other times would remember the favorite food or remember home, leaving him defenseless. But u can cure it by using any way to contact Ness' Mom. Its a neat way of doing that because Ness is the powerhouse of the group and the sturdiest but everybody has a weak spot and sort of makes ppl enjoy the game rather then just speedrunning.

Absolutely; the Mother-series really pioneered that whole storytelling through RPG-battle mechanics. The final battle of Mother 3 is a testiment to that too, just how far it goes to describe the incredibly heavy situation at hand through the lens of battle text and status effects. An incredible moment.

OMG! My sister’s boyfriend made this game and I’m so proud of them! They were genuinely suffering from Covid-19 recently. But back when they made the project, it was going to be completely different. They almost didn’t include the blue boy character because he was considered pointless in an old version. I was lucky enough to preview the game being made after school. They are so kind guys, they gave me cookies. But did you know that originally the game was going to be based on dementia rather than depression. They got ideas on depression from a short documentary and they also used old news articles dating back years. You have no idea how much they hit me!

Agreed to an extent. Honestly, don’t see this game as a portrayal of depression and anxiety. It’s mediocre at best. There’s some creative ideas and passion in some areas but this team didn’t do enough research on depression or anxiety. It was mediocre at best.

Do the battle screens remind anyone else of Sweet Home? It was a good call on their part to limit themselves to a specific system to emulate. A lot of time "vintage" game graphics tend to be just kind of all over the place because they don't try to work with the limitations that old game developers actually had to deal with.

RPG Maker games always have this sort of charm to them, and everytime you review one Nitro, I get this giddy feeling because I would always dabble in RPG Maker games myself and have usually enjoyed the ones I played. I'm pleasantly surprised that RPG Maker still strives to this day, and hope it never loses that traction, because without it, we may not have some of the more interesting titles like OneShot, and of course, Yumi Nikki. Seeing Ghost Hospital has really gotten my hopes up for the future of RPG Maker and I'm sure it has for you too!

White crayons are actually pretty useful if you're working with certain techniques with paint on a canvas, like, if you wanna make some sea foam on the ocean you trace the crayon where you want it to be and paint over it and stuff

I find it cool how the main characters are the colors of their bird counterparts, Robin is Red and Jay (Blue Jay) is blue! It also makes sense for the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, where its a nest. Rather than being a Cuckoo nest, its more like a death nest.

I think Strong Sad appearing in the files is a reference to one of the Halloween episodes where strong sad supposedly "died" of apnea, or so everyone thought because he mysteriously didn't appear in a photo. Hence why he's sometimes refered to as a ghost.

2:55-3:07 I kinda almost wonder if there ends up being an especially dangerous ghost patient the cast encounters as a boss, with an unbridled hatred towards most of the staff due to their apathetic attitudes towards their patients. That's a really interesting game! It's an interesting story concept, being in a place you're not meant to be with seemingly no way of escape. The game is super cute, and I love the colors and overall aesthetic of the game. It's unique. I kinda expected the next review to be croc since that was underneath the case for the Morty the chicken similar to how you hinted to that review in the Kingsley review. But this was just as cool!
