My son passed away this last year november 9 2019 and this album is in his vinyl collection. It reminds me of him. I dream him sometimes and have asked him in a dream are you real? He always responds of course i am i hug him and then he dissapears. He always feels so real. This song always comforts me.

This band really have a fantastic sensibility for melody and they are just fantastic musicians all round. Just listen to the guitar solo, not at all contrived in any way. As James Hetfield said, they are a breath of fresh air in the stale world of rock and metal these days.
@DenSvartaStjarnan10 жыл бұрын
My problem is that their image kinda misrepresents their music. It makes them look like the typical Slipknot-ish antimelodic band that just screams and smashes the instruments. It makes them look very hardcore when they are more about melody.
@Grimeyhoob10 жыл бұрын
DarthUno Who cares? I think the fact that their image is tongue-in-cheek satanic, adds a unique dimension to their melodic music. It adds a sinister edge to it. They are too sinister to be pop or rock, yet they are too melodic to be brutal metal. What were merciful fate or king diamond then? Their music was
@DenSvartaStjarnan10 жыл бұрын
Grimeyhoob Actually, a lot of people, including me think that their image gets in the way of their softer music. I never said they are bad, though. They're talented guys.
@Grimeyhoob10 жыл бұрын
DarthUno Opinions are just that, opinions. Their image is immaterial to their music
@DenSvartaStjarnan10 жыл бұрын
Grimeyhoob Hey, I never said my opinion was more important than anyone else's, just remember that logic goes both ways. Actually, the image is half the band. Do you even know what you're talking about? Without an image all band would suck live, and they wouldn't attract any attention. What I'm saying is the image, which is what you notice first, gives a completely different impression than the music itself. That takes time getting used to, and I think it's a terrible move and that it gets in the way of their music. I'm not saying that they're a bad band, it's just that both me, and lots of other people, don't like them for that reason. If you DO like the fact that their image and music is way different, that's completely fine. Also, it's funny that James Hetfield said "they're a breath of fresh air" when Metallica is doing nothing but the same shit over and over, even when every single album that's come out since the 90's has utterly flopped.

Songs like this remind us that we are more than simple flesh. We have the power to convey not just our emotions, but our very thoughts through music and language. That is the surest sign that magic exists. This song was originally written by Roky Ericson. a musical genius with schizophrenia. Music was how he dealt with the madness still threatens to over take him. His music resonates with the fear and the euphoria gained from each narrow victory against his pain.

Been listening to this song a lot and I keep thinking about relationships (lovers, family, and friends) and how time almost always changes or just completely destroys them. And no matter how hard you try, it is impossible to recreate that feeling of connection and intimacy that you once shared with that person during a specific time. All that you have left to hold onto are the “ghosts” or memories of those feelings. I used to fear mine but now I keep them closer than anything. Beautiful cover.

You got me right where I feel this song. Some of my personal "ghosts" really are of the no longer living sort, and yeah, it gets deep and dark there. But one personal interpretation here: if you lose enough, you have no reasons left to care about the petty, surface bullshit, and you truly do become a more free person. If you've got enough ghosts, you have an army at your back.

This song takes me back to a time in the late 90s when I was a kid. My dad had alot of vinyl albums. He listens to alot of 60s, 70s and some 80s. My mother was the same. This song would have fit in with them. It's just sounds like something Ive heard before, bit at the same time it's something new. And when I hear this song I have a picture show playing in my head of those days. The sounds of journeys guitar solos and skidding my knees on the side walk from learning how to ride my bike. This song is like a warm summer night with your friends, memories, family,l. It's an ode to those you will always have in your heart and to the ones you've lost along the way. It's a bitter sweet nostalgic feeling. What ever your connection to this song is, I hope it's helped you in some way.

My cat's name is Ghost. She is 19 years old and actually older than the band. I love this song because she is everything to me. We are about to lose her

Can't think of anything to comment so I'm just going to post a pancake recipe. 1 1/2 cups milk 1 egg 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 cups White Wings self-raising flour 1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 1/3 cup caster sugar 25g butter, melted Whisk milk, egg and vanilla together in a jug. Sift flour and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl. Stir in sugar. Make a well in centre. Add milk mixture. Whisk until just combined. Step 2 Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Brush pan with butter. Using 1/4 cup mixture per pancake, cook 2 pancakes for 3 to 4 minutes or until bubbles appear on surface. Turn and cook for 3 minutes or until cooked through. Transfer to a plate. Cover loosely with foil to keep warm. Repeat with remaining mixture, brushing pan with butter between batches. Serve.

Thank you Ghost for covering this song as I now know who Roky Erickson is. May Roky rest in peace. Thank you Roky for this song.

Wish more people git Roky Erickson and all his genius from before 13th floor elevators through all the bands & solo stuff he's done. Truly a tortured genius. This cover definitely does him & this song justice though.

THIS. I go to listen to the original of this song and the comment thread is a lot of bashing of this cover. I feel like Ghost did a tasteful twist on it with their own style. And this cover introduced me to the tragically mad genius that is Roky Erickson.

I had the chance to see Ghost a few months back, and I must say that they put on the most amazing and mesmerizing show that I have ever seen. I was lucky enough to shake Papa's hand, and a friend of mine caught a pick from Alpha Ghoul- it was just a fantastic experience. We took the anti-eucharist from two satanic nuns as the band preformed "Body and Blood". It was the most unique, entrancing concert that I have ever been to. I will gladly try to see them any time the opportunity presents itself again. I have Ghost, and I have everything.
