The album which rats is off centres around the black death, so this song is talking about how the rats spread disease but how people thought that it was plague sent by God for their sins, but also about the previous members of the band and how they sued the lead singer, so they are rats and how everyone encounters rats in their life! Great vid, I loved the mary on a cross reaction aswell!. Reccomendations - Faith, cirice, kiss the go goat and respite on the spitalfields!!!

While everything you said is definitely true, the lyrics specifically about times of turmoil, times like these etc, have double meaning about the Black Death but also in reference to today’s plague of social media especially regarding the bullying that takes place over the internet. Also funny enough while obviously Rats by name is a dig at them Faith lyrics wise is actually more the diss track at the former members, so yeh 🦇🐀✌️

@@whiteknight560 yes ofc, sorry i wrote this while half a sleep I meant to mention the more apparent themes in faith, I love how petty Toenail Fungus was, comparing them to luddites, and fecal trails! and the pro memorial lyric mentioning st peter, whose first name was simon, the connections in his writings are amazing. The full story of the entire prequelle album of the black death and its parallels to our society!! 🐀

Biggest rabbit hole in music hands down. There’s a whole story to go along with the music. Each album has a theme. This one prequelle is about the Black Death and court case between man behind ghost and rest of band impera masterpiece album about rise and fall of empires go down this rabbit hole and you’ll be there for a while

I found Ghost at 61 yrs old. Saw them in Chicago last year before i turned 62. Now I'm 63. I have a Grucifix tattoo. They are my ultimate favorite band. Its a super fun rabbit hole to go down. You're picking up on the shtick of the group. Well, Tobias, actually.

Your analysis is really good! I like to think of the rats in the song as social media bullies. “Into your sanctum, you let them in…” Ghost lyrics are so layered, every single song is so intricate. Hope you do more from Ghost!

That lyrics analysis was perfect, and the real guy behind the mask is named tobias forge (not the guy in the preview) he is really talented with how he writes and all ideas you had about what he could mean are correct. Would love to see more ghost reactions, highly recommend square hammer, respite on the spitalfields, cirice, faith and mary on a cross

The song you just reacted to is from the 2018 album Prequelle, and the whole album was about the Plague, which is the reason for Rats

The "person responsible for the project known as Ghost" (his words) is Tobias Forge. He always performs wearing a full mask as Papa Emeritus. Every album cycle has spawned a "new' Papa E, from the first to the present, 5 eras in all, but always TF fronts the band, writes the songs (with and without help), writes all the instrumental solos, and the multi-layered lyrics. I second the recommends from others, but I would add if you're going to react to Faith, go with the official video from A Pale Tour... It is studio sound edited to live concert footage and is So Good! 🔥🤘😜🔥

Welcome to the deep rabbit hole of Ghost. I guess you have a lot to discover. The album where this track comes from is about the black plague that went over Europe in the 1300's. But, as you said, it is also about another topic. The founder and mastermind of Ghost, Tobias Forge, were sued by his old band members because they wanted more money. Tobias won the law case. Another song from that topic is a very good song named Faith, from the same album were Rats came from, Prequelle. Your lyric analysis is very much spot on. Ghost often uses the devil in their lyrics and are known for spreading satanic songs. They have said that the band is satanic but the band members are not. It is more of a questioning of Christianity and Catholicism specifically. But their lyrics also covers other important and interesting topics. The lyrics are often double or even triple layered. The band has been around since 2010 and have made 5 albums and a bunch of EP's with covers that they enhanced a bit. 🙂 I suggest you to listen to Cirice or whatever song there is because there are not a single song that isn't worth listening to. In fact, most of their songs are brilliant from my point of view!
