Fun fact the AK47 in GR2 and Summit Strike is a Chinese AK47 specifically the Type 56-2. The OG GR is what got me into guns and eventually serving.

Yes I noticed that it's a Chinese Type 56-2 while the Ghost Recon 1 is the original Soviet AKM and its also have a Czechoslovakia vz.58 rifle 😄

With it gr2 being set in North Korea and summit strike reusing gr2 assets I'd assume that's why it uses the type 56 instead of an actual ak47/akm. The stock, hooded front post and the underfunding bayonet are the giveaways

Man this takes me back!! I was in The Dark Side clan on Gamebattles and we had a really good team!! Played this game all night and sometimes would fall asleep and snore on my teammates 😂 Miss those days

I love the basic gear the russians are wearing..coat and a chest rig with helmet looks sick now a days all these flashlights and gizmos..

They're kazakhs, but yeah they do look like the russians. I do miss that early 2000s period where the soldiers wore a mix of cold war and more modern gear

holy fuck i loved this game when I was like 9. I had a clan on gamebattles (perfect alliance) and would battle every weekend with my friend who was 14-15 from south/north carolina named patrick hogan... My mom was so sketched out I was talking to stranges online on a first named basis lol.
