Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2: Summit Strike Review

This was the first video game I ever played. I was forever in love with the missions the Ghosts went on. The missions in this game felt satisfying to complete, and even though we never really knew Asad Rahil that much, I felt no sympathy gunning him down in the final mission. I wish this game was remastered and brought back to next-gen console. I may be one of the few people who enjoyed Wildlands as well, as the setting felt very similar to Kazakhstan. I know the game has caused some controversy over the loot grinds, but that doesn't stop me from living the game. To this day my top 3 video games of all time are, in no order, Summit Strike 2, GRAW 2, and Wildlands

This is a great review. You did an admirable job of explaining the historical context of the game as a product, what was good about it, and what wasn't so good. I wasn't expecting much for a video with so few views so this was a pleasant surprise.

we played clan matches on Gamebattles into the early mornings on district /5v5 killem all rules apply.. god I miss those days forever..

I remember those days. I was in the Dark Side clan and we had matches going all night, into the mornings. I remember having dedicated refs who’s sole purpose was to monitor the gameplay to make sure nobody was cheating. So many memories

Man, I loved the old ghost recon games. Never played GR2 or Summit Strike though but it looks this game was a good compromise between OGR and the newer GRAW series.

chow860 Totally true! i've also been considering looking at GR 2 for the Xbox since... its better than the ps2 versions, i'll tell you that!

Salokin Sekwah Yeah I heard the ps2 version was totally different to the Xbox version, kind of like how GRAW had different versions for console and PC.

Guys...GR2 and summit strike together are the core of ghost recon. These are must plays with friends

Still keep this game on my OG Xbox library and still play it anyday when I want to !! Still this game is quite enjoyable for me !!!! Honestly, I own all Tom Clancy Ghost Recon on my Xbox except those GR:Desert Siege(exclusively on PC but I still keep it 🙂) and GR: Jungle Storm(considering it is exclusive on PS2 but I even keep it 🙂)

I loved gr1 and summit strike :3 especially the third person movement in summit strike and graw. graw had those cool coop missions that you could play insinglepplayer which was a nice challenge

I really want ubisoft to put the first 2 ghost eecons and all their expansions on backwards compatibility for series s/x. Because holy fuck I cannot put up with the fps drops in ghost recon 2 and the really low resolution in ghost recon 1 on my og xbox

Emulation might work but its imperfect. Ubisoft just sucks in general when it comes to their older games

@@salokin3087 yeah I think I'll give that a try then. Can't be any worse than choppy frame rates lol. The og ghost recons need the same treatment quake 2 got imo, but like you pointed out, ubisoft suck lol

I love this game.. I truly hope that next ghost recon game would be like this.. But I already know that will never happen its probably gonna be another grind fest with loot boxes
