'Ghost Story' was a five-part series of short ghost stories first broadcast at Christmas in 1986. Joss Ackland - one of the great voices of the era - performs the stories wonderfully. Originally uploaded to the channel a couple of years ago, I'm reposting them now to bring them to newer listeners.
MYSTERIOUS MAGPIE is a channel devoted to ghost and horror stories on British radio, and to dark tales of every kind. I have another channel, MYSTICAL MAGPIE, which is all about stories of fantasy, mythology, and adventure: / @mysticalmagpie-wo5fn
If you're interested to know more about the century-long history of ghost and horror stories broadcast at Christmas on British television and radio, you might like to check out HOLLY WRAITHS (and its companion volume HOLLY TERRORS), an A-Z guide available in paperback and ebook from Amazon and Lulu.com.

Joss had such a commanding voice. Loved him as the villain in Lethal Weapon 2! Diplomatic immunity!! Boom, it’s just been revoked. Class story. Hope you have more with him.

There are five of these 'Ghost Story' readings by him - but I also have a play on the channel called 'The Artist is Thinking' in which he stars alongside Hattie Morahan. That one's very sinister... As you say, his turn in Lethal Weapon 2 is incredibly memorable, though believe it or not when I was a child his was the voice of wildlife documentaries and TV adverts for things like self-raising flour... he could be terrifying, but that voice could be very gentle, too...

He was great as the villain, De Nomolos, in Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey too!

Love Aickman! Don't know how he gets missed somewhere between MR James and modern authors but I missed out on him for a loooong time.

Those who love him adore him... there's a documentary about Aickman on the channel called 'The Unsettled Dust', and a few other readings (just search the channel for Aickman) but in particular there's a very good adaptation of 'Ringing the Changes' which is the last horror appearance of none other than Barbara Shelley...
