This movie is amazing. It’s made in a way where it balances comedy, sci-fi, and horror so well. It doesn’t feel like you got too much or too little of something. It’s the perfect blend. From the Luis Tully to the proton packs to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, this whole movie is iconic. If I had to do a top 10 or 15 favorite movies of all time, this movie would certainly be on there.

I enjoyed the intro for this review. Having said that, I mentioned in the comments section of Cody's review that I saw Ghostbusters (1984) in the theatre. I'll never forget that experience. I've rewatched this film every year at some point & it still works. It's among my favorite films of all time (Ferris Bueller's Day Off is my number 1 always) & is one of the best films of the 80s. The characters, the story & the music are all so memorable. I'd give this classic a Platinum standard certification rating. It certainly deserves to be required viewing for any serious 80s fan.

Ghostbusters definitely gets an A+! To me it's basically a perfect movie. The only things I would nitpick are just some special effects looks somewhat dated. But that still didn't bother me that much because this movie is Awesome!

I like Ghostbusters because it’s entertaining, but I’ve never found it to be particularly hilarious. It’s just sort of a pleasant movie to watch. I’ve always found Dan Akroyd’s character acting like a little kid to be sort of weird lol. “This place is great! Can we move in? Let me get my stuff!”

I love Ghostbusters (1984). It's one of my favorite movies of all time along with Ghostbusters 2 and I can't wait to see Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) which will very likely go on my list of my favorite movies of all time.

It's one of my favorite movies but I watched it with my wife recently (she's never seen it before) and found out that it hasn't aged well... it's really a movie of its time lots of things that wouldn't be ok these days. Its still a great movie and so fun.

Loved the intro! While I really enjoy Ghostbusters, it isn’t a movie I grew up with so I just don’t have the same nostalgia for it that others do. That being said, I’m looking forward to revisiting it this week before Afterlife!

Sean, being from the same age group, I also grew up with this movie, and you're reflecting my exact thoughts through and through here. What is great is that the movie is funny because the characters are authentic, it's a true story, and really, just innovative. For me, I can take this movie and just start quoting it anywhere. Why is that... because these characters speak like what someone in real life would. Great review, and I think you're speaking very much to those of us in our late 30s who grew up with this. Top 10 favorite movie of mine for sure.

Ghostbusters is great. It has the perfect set of characters, top notch comedy, and some great ghost action. The effects look great for the most part, though there are some moments with Zool where you can see through him, which is odd, because he's not a ghost.

I’m in the majority when I say that the original Ghostbusters movie is awesome and I’m so glad that you reviewed this movie. I hadn’t seen the original film in years and to be honest I forgot how much I loved it, but this video really gave me a shot of nostalgia (to put things in perspective I’m in my early 20’s so I wasn’t alive when this movie originally released).

Good content Sean. I have a question...I know you said in your recent Q&A that a lot of your content reviewing older movies doesn't do so well. Will you try putting some older reviews on your main channel or is it established that they won't do well and you're going to continue putting them on the secondary channel?

This is a fun movie. I was only 5 when this first hit theaters so I watched a few episodes of the cartoon first. In early 2002 right before my 23rd birthday and enjoyed it very much. I remember renting it at my local blockbuster video on vhs, I now own the double pack on dvd, last year my local theater showed all old movies such as this when it first reopened after covid and there were not very new movies to be released. This was one of few movies I have seen Ernie Hudson in and one of the early movies I saw Bill Murray in and the first film that I saw Dan Aykroyd in where he was likable, also an early film for Rick Moranis. A true Classic,

It’s a fun and funny movie, with a simple plot, and it’s highly quotable. The humor and horror elements are pretty well balanced. However, as iconic as the characters are, and funny as Bill Murray is, he comes off as a huge creep. He only cares about Dana when he finds out she’s possessed. And can we not talk about THAT scene with Harold Ramis and the female ghost? But I can still have a lot of fun with the comedy, the chemistry between the actors, and FX. Pretty much agree, though, with your assessment.

I looked at like 50 different Talking head KZbin channels when designing it. I wrote down a bunch of different ideas I liked and added a few more ideas from doing some stage design. Combined together the ideas which I could pull off given my skills and resources to make something that looked good. At the end of the day, despite numerous differences from stuckmanns setup, the human eye primarily sees blue set in a corner with some back lighting. If I’d known that the many differences wouldn’t make enough of a difference or that my channel was going to take off right after I designed it, maybe I would have done something different. Maybe. But it looks good. So I don’t even know that I would change anything.
