I recently started watching some of the older SNL skits, and to be honest, I can't understand how anyone found SNL funny. So much of the "humor" felt forced, awkward, and uncomfortable. Almost as if the actors and comedians were in an improv session that they never took classes for and were trying desperately to come off as mildly amusing. The only parts of SNL that I ever considered remotely entertaining were the parody commercials, a few bits of Chevy Chase's news broadcasts, and the Mr. Bill show. Modern SNL doesn't even pretend it's trying to be funny; it's just pseudo-political banter and bashing conservatives.

@AllyGatorAnimator4 жыл бұрын
The funniest part about that is the 2016 movie made it clear that the original movies never took place in their universe (despite the trailer acknowledging the original movies existence). By doing that they made it so they could never be referenced in a movie connected to the original's timeline, because it wouldn't make sense. By doing everything in their power to say the film was its own thing and that these new characters were the originals (in their canon), they cut themselves off from any future Ghostbusters work outside of their own specific series. They did this to themselves.

This is the only thing I saw that was actually clever and made me chuckle. He also would use the term "skinny" as a compliment towards women, and said it was best to try and date chubbier chicks because they have low self-esteem and you could "train them to work out so they would get hot". Oh, he also had a fondness for date-raping women. I tried to have a candid heart-to-heart with him about all this so he could try and improve as a person, but his response was "Keep talking to me like that and I'll hit you."... So I jacked him in the face, he fell backwards off the picnic table he was sitting on, and I left him on the ground outside the bar. He never came back inside after that, and haven't talked to him since. I know nobody probably cared to hear this story, but lensless glasses always make me think of that absolute joke of a "man".

I have an explanation for that. People today are infantilized. They have their hands held through 13 years of what we laughingly call 'primary and secondary education,' before having their hands held more in colleges where they drink, do drugs, and screw each other with abandon. It is typical now for young aspiring writers to graduate college and enter the workforce in their mid-twenties poorly educated and utterly inexperienced, without ever having had to struggle for anything, deal with their own mistakes, or fight in so much as a schoolyard squabble. They are, in meaningful ways, little kids. Contrast: Legendary comedian Mel Brooks was drafted into the Army at the age of 18 and served in Europe during WW2. He started doing stand-up by taking initiative when a comedian got sick and couldn't go on. By the time he got his first off-the-books job writing (uncredited) jokes for television, he was a war veteran with actual performance experience. By the time he performed in front of real cameras on the Steve Allen Show, he was in his mid-thirties, married with kids. He was an *adult.* He was also self-deprecating and clever, instead of self-righteous and posturing like modern children. A fun quote talking about an early mentor: "One day he handed me a book. He said to me, 'Mel, you're an animal from Brooklyn, but I think you have the beginnings of something called a mind.'" You ever hung around teenagers desperately trying to be funny, but only managing the most obvious, hackneyed, cringey humor? That's Hollywood writing and for basically the same reason.
@LloydWaldo4 жыл бұрын
Looking back, this film is the height of Hollywood cynicism. A sequel no one wanted, made by a hack director with a mandate to do product placement. Then when the studio rightly recognized the movie was a bomb waiting to happen, they ginned up a “backlash” from male fans. Except they apparently didn’t understand what Ghostbuster’s constituency even is. What a fucking mess this was.

This is a very good way to put it. I actually did enjoy the 2016 in theatres in the sense it was a fun watch, I actually saw it twice believe it or not. But objectively it was not a good movie. It wasn't charming enough for re-watches over time like the original or other movies in a similar vein. like many reboots these days, it's just filled with a pandering Hollywood vibe with very blunt plots, jokes, and metaphors. I can see why kids would enjoy it or maybe those who are already fans of the cast (even though they've all been in better) but it doesn't have the same universal appeal at all
@poweroffriendship2.03 жыл бұрын
@@Catz1a Sure, but at the same time, 2016 Ghostbusters got a lot of insane backlash by the critics and the audience alike BEFORE the movie was even released, at least for what I've remember. In my opinion, the movie is bad but the special effects are pretty impressive and the actresses are doing their best to make the film work, but it lacked the charm of the original Ghostbusters movies. The movie have some political perspective to it, especially for the feminism one. People always get upset when political elements are mentioned in every film, thinking that all the "representations" shoved down to their faces which I do understand their point. At the end, the whole crew of Ghostbusters 2016 got so much hate to the point of becoming more obnoxious, especially for the director who is a jerk at this point.

If something was popular enough that someone thinks they can make money on a reboot, the original will not be surpassed. a girl asked the make a wish foundation to see the ghostbusters expecting to see the originals but she got the all-female ones instead. she looked like she realised cancer wasn't that bad.

This movie had the potential to be a thought provoking horror comedy like the original, with good, strong characters... and all we got was this third rate caricature of a film.

Like Anthony Mackie says about todays movie industry: todays movies are made for 16 year olds and china. thats why most of the movies suck.
@victims893 жыл бұрын
@Luc Germain well this movie was for 16 year olds and movies like the great wall with matt Damon is for china. but like you said, it was a dumpsterfire.

@Luc Germain What about Disney making a black character smaller on their advertising for it in China? If you dont think Hollywood is in bed with China youre either naive or just dumb deaf and blind

@Luc Germain I never said every single movie did i? And most of corona is a lie. It exists, but isnt as deadly as the MSM painted it out to be. But im sure youll never ever take that mask off till your masters tell you to. But question, why havent you been wearing a mask your whole life? You could of gotten someone sick who in turn got their grandparents sick and possibly could of killed them.. How ignorant... Keep eating up what they are giving you lol

It varies depending on brand and concentration but about 120 to 140 proof, however, medical alcohols are denatured, so you can't get drunk off them, they just destroy your stomach lining and liver. Disclaimer: in case someone doesn't get the joke please don't drink hand sanitiser.

Roy G Biv trying to push the failure of a film on “butthurt” fans is just a lousy excuse when someone made a shitty movie. Let’s face it GB 2016 was not funny, not original, not entertaining, did not sell well, and did not have likable characters. GB 2 ain’t perfect but still outshines 2016 by a lot. And another little thing called GB: After life, as in reboot the franchise cause nobody liked Gb 2016 except you. The only one butthurt here is you cause the majority has spoken GB 2016 SUCKED
