The canon timeline for that franchise is really tricky because both of the animated series aren't part of the main canon or aren't considered, Dan considers the game to be canon, but it technically isn't, and the other video game adaptations and the comics are their own separate thing. 2016 doesn't belong anywhere, and the roleplaying game isn't directly canon to the movies.

@@nathanforester5993 _Spirits Unleashed_ is set in the _Afterlife_ timeline, so I guess it's a continuation. I personally didn't mind it...then again we didn't ask for Terminator sequels without Arnold in them and we ended up getting one anyway. We didn't ask for another SAW movie but we got it anyway, we didn't ask for another live-action attempt at Resident Evil but we got the netflix series. Dan Aykroyd is in his 70's, Bill Murray is waaaaay older. Dan will keep doing the franchise even if Ray dies (which he nearly does in this), I barely noticed any changes with Ernie Hudson (the dude is ripped). And well I find it hard to believe Paul Rudd is 55 considering the guy looks like he has been in bathing in the fountain of youth and using the water to clean himself on a regular basis. They catch the library ghost in the video game. Also knowing how ghosts are weak against the beams of a proton pack, do you think a ghost would be able to use it? I don't think they would. It would be like a vampire using a crucifix.

You finally saw it. 3:36 Ghostbusters was always one where it was hard to put it in a genre; yeah, there is comedy, but as a kid most jokes flew over my head, so the movie still works without the comedy. Horror is another genre it falls under; I believe they said they filmed it like one. Action, with the proton pack action; even the original script, where it takes place in the future, I believe a producer or someone complained it was like an action movie, with an action scene every other scene. Sci-fi, using tech to catch ghosts. That's one of the reasons why the 2016 movie sucked, they tried to make it solely a comedy and failing; where the characters are doing stupid things solely to make a joke, which isn't even that funny. 5:08 She was a bad mother, hated her too. I know people like that in real life. 5:51 I noticed that too, the whole point of the beam is to lasso them and pull them toward the trap. 13:00 Black don't crack. 15:10 Yeah, I heard they were gay, but if it was, it wasn't as blatant as they usually are in movies these days.

All I wanted was Ghostbusters 3 with the old guys, yeah, I know when Harold and Ivan died that was impossible. But in other words he was trying to say Harold and himself wasn't really the close friends it was really his brother Brian&Harold who more close friends which in all honestly I don't buy it Matt. 10:56 Agreed Matt maybe that could've worked back in 2006-2010 when we had Sly bring back Rocky&Rambo or Bruce Willis bring back John McClane or have actors who become a action hero like Liam Neeson with the first"Taken" and what Sly did again with the first and the only best film"The Expendables" but after 2010 it just felt like "ok guys it's time to hang it up already" IMHO. 35:54 That's a good point but the same could be said about Viggo from"Ghostbusters 2" that is still my favorite film of the first 2. I am very happy that this film bombed because these series of films are tiring already it's almost like they are scared to give a sequel to the OG cast on there own without forcing these newer characters on us if Murray wasn't being such a jerk over the years by saying no to Raimis&Aykroyd tearing up scripts we could've got one in the mid 90's but sadly we never did. They didn't tell Bill Murray to F off. They tried for over 20 years to get him to do a third movie. He refused, because of his feud with Harold Ramis and not caring at all about _Ghostbusters._ The scripts that saw him removed completely were Bill's idea. He once said he'd play Venkman only as a ghost. Funny how that one turned out - Egon's ghost. And as it is, he made things difficult working on the video game, and that was just voice work. Bill ended up walking out midway through recording his lines, forcing the devs to recycle some of Peter's dialogue. But now he does these stupid new movies. Go figure.

Ghostbusters II still gets crap to this day but I enjoy it and its the only sequel (excluding the game) that's worthy of the original. There's way too many characters in this, its not funny and Phoebe is an overrated Mary Sue and she sucks as a character because she's a little brat. Who wanted to see kid Ghostbusters? Not me that's for sure. The OG cast are underused once again. What a lot of folks don't seem to understand is its not the special FX and just the story that made the original work but the comedic chemistry of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis combined with the supporting performances of Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, Rick Moranis etc. its about those characters above all else. Without one of them (Ramis) it just doesn't work plus this writing is crap. I didnt laugh a single time in either this or Afterlife. GB 2016 is a piece of crap but at least that attempted to be a comedy it was just really bad at it plus at least it was in it's own continuity. As a fan it pains me to say this but I have to be honest - Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is a bad movie. The film is total a mess. It's an overstuffed, poorly paced, confusing, convoluted movie with an unnecessarily complicated plot. There are far too many characters, some of which have been needlessly shoehorned into the story. Most of the characters are bland, with very little personality, charisma, likability, humor or chemistry. It's overstuffed with unnecessary dialogue, dull subplots, pointless characters and scenes which go on for far too long. It's not funny either. I didn't laugh once during the movie, and neither did the audience I was watching it with. It's not frightening either. There are no scares in the film. Laughs and scares are two things you expect from a Ghostbusters film, but this latest entry in the series is completely devoid of any. Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan may be talented directors, but they're the wrong people to be writing Ghostbusters films. Afterlife was mediocre at best, but Frozen Empire is just plain bad. With a heavy heart, I rate this film 3 out of 10. I feel a lot of fans are in denial about just how bad this film is.

One of the most forgettable films I have ever wasted 2 hours of my life on. No funny jokes here whatsoever! The best part of the film was the ending. It captured for a brief moment, the spirit of the franchise. But that may have just been because the theme song was playing. Bill Murray looked so uninterested & bored to be there it was distracting. Not the worst film I have ever seen, but easily one of the most boring.

The both of the new ones suck 😂😂😂😂😂it’s will not never top the two original films 🎥

The franchise needs to end. I don't like the first two movies so I didn't bother with the rest (Especially that hideous reboot in 2016).

Okay so i finished the movie and it was truly awful. They wasted the entire cast the original Ghostbusters are criminally wasted and don't defeat Garraka. There were no funny parts. This makes the last Kid Ghostbusters movie Afterlife look like Citizen Kane. I love a lot of the lore, and the universe i love some of the additions but this movie had no soul. The only part I liked was when Winston suited up that was cool, maybe even Janine being a Ghostbuster. But it's a trash movie. Poor McKenna too having to be in this crap, I don't blame her, wooden awful direction and a bad script.

A great long new review, Matt. of a highly boring & disappointing Ghostbusters film.

Both 2016 and afterlife/frozen empire suck, people are so happy that 2016 film is wiped from canon that they failed to realise that these new ones did a piss poor job as well. This franchise is not even a comedy anymore, it's some lame Steven Spielberg/ Stranger Things wannabe crap that only leavhes off of the original film's nostalgia. This franchise NEEDS to go away just like the terminator, alien, predator and many others because they have no new ideas anymore.

And do you think 2016 is a bad woke parody?
@RussianPirate-ff7yt3 ай бұрын
Absolutely. That movie is 1000% trash, however, I actually hate these new ones more. The only decent thing about 2016 is that it sucked on its own, while afterlife and frozen empire ruin the continuity of the first 2 movies.

@@Johnlindsey289 , Answer the Call is one of the worst movies ever made, no joke is funny or lands. Like the worst most lame SNL season skit you could imagine on screen. I think Spy is hilarious, but Paul Feig was wrong for Ghostbusters. It didn't do anything for those comedians' careers either, whether people think the backlash was fair or not. I still think they played up the fans are misogynist angle to hide that they knew the film was a turkey. Internal testing had to have told them they were in trouble with this movie, there is no way it tested well. Dan Aykoryd isn't blameless either he had his hands all over that project, it was just as bad as Blues Brothers 2000. Without any of that films redeeming quality as little of them as there are from musical performances, the charm of some of the co-stars , the lack of John Belushi killed that movie.
