Mikey Dunn the main issue was always Bill Murray. For years he had no interest in reprising the role of Peter Venkman. Other issues behind the scenes were the health of Harold Ramis who developed an autoimmune disease which he sadly died from. Rick Moranis didn't want to reprise the role of Louis Tully because he quit acting after his wife died from breast cancer. In addition a woman named Amy Pascal who used to work for Sony pictures kept interfering with the behind the scenes production of a third Ghostbusters movie. When Harold died fans thought all hope was lost as Amy assumed greater creative control over the project when Ivan Reitman stepped how after Harold died which is why we got that dreadful reboot in 2016. But now with Afterlife and Frozen Empire Ghostbusters fans finally got what they really wanted which is a third and fourth movie complete with Bill Murray actually co - operating and starring as his iconic character Peter Venkman, whilst Amy Pascal has now moved to a new movie studio. Still though although Ghostbusters fans finally got justice the awful and unfunny Melissa McCarthy is still complaining about how Ghostbusters fans dislike her 2016 movie because of sexism this and misogyny that. Please just move on Melissa.
