Ghostbusters The Video Game - The Movie - Remastered Extended Cut

Ghostbusters: The Video Game, edited and compressed into a 3 hour 30 minute 'movie' edition.
Fully re-recorded and edited from scratch with all real-time assets in true 1080p via the PC version of the game at max settings and with 2x Super Sampling Anti Aliasing.
No upscaled 720p console version here!
Set two years after the second movie and featuring the voices of the original cast in one of Harold Ramis' final roles before his death, Dan Aykroyd has described the video game as "Essentially the third movie."
This is an extended cut with additional incidental dialogue and background details.
Pacing has been affected as a result, so this is for the more hardcore fans of the franchise.
Please note that some cutscenes, specifally all of those that are letterboxed, are in fact pre-rendered CGI videos.
These videos were rendered at 1280x540 by the developers and so have only been upscaled with some very slight cropping at the edges to fill a bit more of a 16:9 frame.
Some scenes have had their audio adjusted to try and improve on the worst of the lip syncing problems and various other tweaks to dialogue audio and colour balance.
It's not perfect, but I've tried to make this the highest quality 'movie' adaptation of GhostBusters: The Video Game available on the internet as of 2016.

Three things! First, the reason this is called "Remastered" is because its the second time I made a 'movie adaptation' of the game, and its a massive quality leap over the first one. This was long before an actual remaster of the game was announced. Second, just for the record, since it was one of the most commonly asked questions about the original, Winston *is* in the game. :P Apart from Ernie Hudson's name in the opening credits being a giveaway, Winston himself shows up at 0:28:00 Third, I apologise that a few sections of the video have been muted in the order of between 10-20 seconds. This is due to copyright claims by the music division of Sony in 2019 and, rather than just using ContentID to claim ad revenue as is the case with certain video sections of this, they decided to block the entire video world wide. So it was either mute those sections, or no one would be able to see the video at all.

In the first Ghostbusters movie, before facing Gozer, Winston had only been a Ghostbusters for 2 weeks. After they beat Gozer they were sued until they were forced to go out of business. Then five years later, Vigo happened, and after that, this game. Winston hadn't had enough time to gel with the main three until after Ghostbusters 2, and you see that he has found his place with them in this game.

My one and only complaint about the game is that the "new kid" looks like he could be Ray's twin brother. They weren't very creative there, and it would have made the game way cooler if they gave us a character creator to make our own new ghostbuster. Since the character doesn't even have any dialogue, the model could easily be replaced by someone else. Games like Saints Row and Soul Calibur have been doing it that way for over a decade, and i think it would have greatly improved the game experience for many people if they could have chosen the look of their ghostbuster themselves.

If the game didn't use pre-rendered cutscenes, I'm sure they would have been some kind of customisation. The reason for pre-rendering in-engine cutscenes was for the facial animation technology used. Any time in this video you are seeing letterboxing, that's because the cutscene is a pre-rendered video rather than being rendered in real-time. As it is, the Rookie is intentionally about as generic as you can get and, of course, un-named.

I recently watched Ghostbusters II again after finished the game and I noticed something that I just have to share. When Lewis suits up towards the end of the film, did anyone else noticed that Janine put him in one of Egon's suits?? Considering his size I would have thought one of Ray's, maybe even one of Venkman's would have fitted him a lot better (Egon is one of the tallest and Lewis is way shorter)....Something tells me that she's still carrying a bit of a flame for good old Dr Spengler and is living out a bit of a fantasy with Lewis..... The story as I'm aware of it now is that Sigourney Weaver didn't want to be involved due to previous negative experiences she's had taking part in video games, in particular the Alien franchise (bear in mind, 2009. Long before Alien Isolation). She changed her mind once she found out Bill Murray was actually on board, but by then the game was too far along in development to incorporate her.
