As someone from the South of England, I have a phobia of someone naming a village "Wiltshire"

This is so perfectly in line with the kind of Halloween one-shot I want to run. Thanks Ben and crew!

Taking more inspiration from It. What if Beleth is the one transforming into these illusions, a different one each turn, and depending on the phobia that's currently active he'd obtain different abilities. Each phobia changes the environment around you. You can only attempt to overcome your fear if Beleth is currently transformed as your fear, and once you do he loses the ability to change into that form. Love the video btw, already started asking around to see if my friends want to do a last minute halloween oneshot haha.

What a coincidence... I was looking at the Grim Hollow kickstarter, wanted to watch another video and... here we are. Life is good, and spooky

Ben, you are so good at this. 5e publishers should do zines like the osr and mork borg folk do. This is an amazing system agnostic, setting agnostic one shot!! Please publish this!! I love a classic "creepy village w/ strange goings-on" premise, and a collection of phobia-based encounters would be an incredible resource for DMs to have.

Thanks, that's really kind of you! While I just have fun making these style vids, we're definitely remembering which ones are popular and might be worth following through with, one day.

Great one shot idea! The false hydra is one of my favorite concepts, and this really turns it up a notch. Also, at 10:30, I'm guessing you mean "charnel house", and not "carnal house", as that would be a very different (though potentially interesting) adventure.

oh yeah... a 10th level paladin stomps this adventure. :( I'm sure there'd be a way around that damn Aura of Courage.
@GhostfireGaming3 ай бұрын
To be fair, the core fantasy of the Paladin is a light in the dark… the bane of evil and dark manipulation. I’d let the Paladin shine in earlier encounters, but once the party begin exploring the depths beneath the house that bleed into the Netherworld, certain divine class features may flicker and fade…

@@GhostfireGaming I love this! Maybe even get them questioning their oath? Have they been holding to it? Is their unrealised fear that they have somehow broken their oath without knowing?
@spartaneternal84233 ай бұрын
@@MarkoSeldoPerhaps it temporarily disabled their aura of courage. Or dampens its effect to only confer advantage.

10:18 why not mess with your group even more by having the candles or the torches within the room that's lighting up the place flicker off and on. And when it does this the food on the table changes from organs and limbs that the demons eating to actual food that the ventures would eat.

Currently not planned, as this was written specifically for this video (and Halloween). But we do pay attention to which of these adventure videos fans like, so it's possible!

Using their Phobias to construct the dungeon, reminds me of a "Nightmare Fairy" character I made that does similar things with Illusions. Phantasmal Force specifically, allowing that spell, if the DM allows it, to allow it to draw from the victim's own fears to make it work properly. In other words, sew the seeds of fear, describe a scene, and if allowed, just vaguely describe the fears and horrors creeping out so your DM fills in the blanks. Could work the other way around the DM doing this to a Player Character, and allowing the player to explain some of the things they see that their character is afraid of, giving table insight to how their character works. Conversely I have a little Warlock Fey that is just a really good Illusionist and uses it to either Enrapture targets, or mislead them. No nightmares or horrors, only fun and entertainment.

I like it, but the town has the same name as my home county, which is rather distracting
