Ghosting is terrible on the receiving end. It happened out of the blue while in a relationship of a year and a half. Something triggered the person and from that day forward it was never the same. It was such a shitty thing for the person to do and to not be outright and honest. It was something that could've been fixed and something I understood well. All the person gave were excuses. The most common phrase I've heard the most in life now, "I didn't know what to say." 🙄

I wouldn't consider drifting apart from friends ghosting. You might just have different directions in life and most people understand that. Technically, you are still friends. Ghosting is more like creating a bunch of loose ends. You started something, you didn't finish it, and left someone wondering what happened. Closure is important to people and denying that is mean. I think people should just be honest. If the person is mature, they'll appreciate it. If the person is persistent, at least they'll know why you stopped responding and eventually give up. If the person is just plain crazy, well damn, they are not going to take it well either way, so might as well be honest.

Ghosting feels like absolute shit if you genuinely got along with the person and liked them. Was ghosted on for the first time this summer and i kept my cool but really felt like shit because it just left me in thought. I could understand if someone was specifically told they weren't interested and the other person kept trying though, i think it's justified in situations like that or with stalkers etc.

Wes' impersonation of Taylor was awesome! 😂 My first bf ghosted me after a year-and-a-half relationship. I think it was mostly because of immaturity and cowardice. (We were young.) Then years later, he tried to get back together. Umm, I don't think that's how it works. Lol! 🤦😂 It's much better to just be honest and communicate your feelings. It makes it easier for the other person to move on with their life and find someone else. More difficult for you to do that but it's the right thing to do. 😄👍

My old friend and I used to talk everyday. It would just be a several bubble text convo between us and that would be it. It was like a check in. One day I texted him and he never replied. He’s always quick to reply. I would text him every other day for the next two weeks. I was getting worried but also upset. I thought he was ghosting me, but I remembered he went to the army. It was such a routine that it felt weird. I knew he went and I sent him off, but it felt empty not talking to him every afternoon.

I've ghosted a few times before, but one of those times was on a person that I actually had the crush on. He knew I liked him, and even said he liked me as well. But the timing wasn't right. He still wanted to be "friends" (with benefits) and I wasn't into that. Honestly the hardest part was not being able to see his mom. She is absolutely amazing and I missed her 😭 I loved getting to spend time with her and she would always make delicious food to eat together. She even made extra so I could take it home... luckily I've seen and talked to her and she knows what happened, so she understands.

There's also the situation where you've already been upfront about feelings and have had long conversations about it but the other person only gets sadder or won't give up and then you just kinda have to.... ghost. It depends on the situation. I think it's really bad to ghost with zero explanation though, but there are still specific times when I think it's the only solution, like a last resort.

I ghosted 2 girls, and I felt bad for the 1st girl I did it to because she was a really sweet, nice girl. I did it because she was....boring. I was always planning things out and she wasn't very a conversational person. We were just different, better off as friends. The 2nd girl, man....im glad I did that. She wasn't really supportive and her baby daddy was out to kill me, even after they broke up awhile back. It was just bad all around with her. Do I regret ghosting them? I sometimes prefer directness in a text message as ghosting doesn't always work, especially for the persistent ones who send 5 messages with no shame haha. But I found many people I know are afraid to be direct cause they don't like to be seen as the bad guy. And because of that I try be direct as possible to show my friends (and set an example) that its fine, and sometimes healthy, to have that ability to confront people at your hand. However, thats only if you're mature and are careful in how you break the connection with the person. The skill can be harmful too.

I think ghosting is good in some situations: 1. Your intuition tells you that something is not right. 2. The person tries to keep pursuing you even though you are not interested. It is usually better, to be honest with someone rather than lead them on. If the person won't take no for an answer, it is stalking and should be reported to the police.

Is it bad to ghost someone if you were up front about your feelings first, but the other person basically ignored it or tried to steer clear of what you just told them? I don't think it is, because for 1.) You were up front and you did care about the other's feelings, like not trying to lead them on 2.) I didn't know "Ghosting" had another meaning, When I saw the title about ghosting I thought that it's a really odd topic for a Wong Fu lunch break. Because I knew "Ghosting" as when a person take the identity of a presumably dead person. I'm late on this, but I don't ghost. For me, I view the reason why I approach this issue directly is purely out of sheer respect for the other person and their time. There's absolutely nothing wrong with being honest about how you feel about something, what makes all the difference is simply in the delivery of your message. They may feel a sting by what you may say initially, but I can assure you going down the road, they will have appreciated that honesty. I could go on about this, but hopefully that wraps it all up.

I ghosted 2 friends from Facebook, email, and phone numbers. It was a one way friendship. I was the giver or the one that had to initiate contact to keep up. One exfriend only called me when he needed me. I only got a call when they needed something. My other exfriend never invited me to his wedding when I invited him and his parents to mine. Yet I was so called friends with them on Facebook. I got sick of being friends with them on Facebook but not in real life. They made zero effort in the real world. After many years I've had it. What's going on in my life is for people that are involved in meaningful ways in real life. I didn't want them spying on me and I wasn't interested in them or what's happening in their life since in reality I have nothing to do with them ever. I blocked them on Facebook and blocked their number. They never called anyway. It's ok to ghost to clear your mind from the past fake friends that are not real friends.

I think I ghost or just reply really slowly when I have a feeling that someone likes me. In those situations, the problem is that I don't know if I like them back and if I should keep messaging them to see if I do. So I end up doing that because I don't want the possibility of talking with them too much/leading them on and still being unsure. Anyone else have this problem?
