@1LHPrincess My mistake- both Robert Glasper and Gretchen rearranged it - with significant chord changes, changing the original 4/4 to a switching 6/4 - 3/4, rhythmically broken up so ingeniously that it just flows, but with more elasticity. Sorry I offended you, but hard to read such a blanket dismissal after it got such broad acclaim and detailed analysis (NPR, Jazztimes, even the original composer) on how she was able to both honor it and make it her own. But you're entitled to your opinion.

@1LHPrincess whoa... your comments (& your favorite videos) make it clear that you processed barely 1% of what's happening here musically, rhythmically, the interaction between her and the band, esp beginning about 4 minutes into it, and from about 7 min to the end would leave most vocalists totally lost. She has totally deconstructed & reconstructed it into something new and completely hers. I smh and wonder what miniscule part of this your brain/ears processed.

* Scratches head* I think she could have interpreted this a little better. The sound is too familiar, it feels and sounds like Amel Larrieux is singing SWV, and there is absolutely nothing special about that.
