from my experience, its a habit people get from online play. Most times that slight delay/frame buffer is what keeps you from dieing first. Then you get too comfortable with it and don't realize it might kill you in a real-life setting

So far I only had two people celebrate prematurely against me, I’m a little Mac so when they saw me go off the stage they thought I couldn’t make it back and taunted but while they were mid taunt I used my KO punch. The only two times this has happened to me I always had my KO punch, it was so funny and I always got mad because I was always at max saved replays.

An accurate representation of why I don't EVER assume I've won the match until GAME plays. Crazy, crazy stuff can happen in a star K.O. The lesson that taught it to me is one time when I lost to my friend via a star K.O., my body flying in the background. My friend did Samus's fAir in celebration... but the game spawned an explosive box on him at that exact moment. He died before I did. Funniest match I've ever "won". He's still mad about it a decade later.

I like how they lose due to A. The person eliminated animation didn’t finish so they jump off stage/didn’t recover when doing an attack. Or B. The opponent having that one stock left but they already popped off by jumping off the stage. Best ones are where they re-examine on how they lost.

This is the one thing I have a little problem with smash on. The left, right, and bottom edge are instant deaths. I get the aesthetic of the top edge death, but it should also immediately count as a death when they hit the threshold that starts that death animation, since there is literally nothing you can do to save yourself.
