For future listeners, 18:00 is when they stop bickering and start playing Mothership.

Its the perfect Horror-Movie conversation - like in Blair Witch and others, when the characters getting more and more on edge and losing their mind 😅

I'm 99.999% certain that you tried to use Armand smoking as the hint that he swapped/was an android. Loved the episode, even with the kerfuffle in the middle.

Something that is AWESOME about roll playing games is actually precisely what happened in this episode. In a video game, the rules are managed for you, and there is no resolution through communication needed, because the game engine tracks everything. In other games, communication is needed in order to resolve issues. The fact that y’all can have a moment of frustration, and then resolve it, plan to make it not happen again in the future, and then recollect and move on speaks to y’all’s communication and conflict resolution skills. Good job moving through it! Loving the series!

Thank you for the thoughtful comment! I think everyone has experienced heated table discussions at some point and as a consumer of actual plays myself I found it rare to come across examples of real conflict at the table. While apprehensive at first keeping moments like this in a public podcast the overall response from people has been positive and encouraging, as you said the moments of frustration and conflict resolution has a value to add to the show. There's at least one more conflict in the campaign lol so I hope you enjoy! :)

Love the subtlety of the NPCs and the slow reveal of motives.

It’s challenging to listen to you waffle on and argue. I get it it happens around the table, especially with this game. Really enjoyed this series but might have to give it a break for a while.

Understandable, it's good to take a break sometimes if some content is overwhelming. Feel free to skip any stressful parts!

Have you guys considered editing those parts out? Absolutely love what you guys do, but spending so much time figuring out who's responsible for losing track of who's holding the bloody cybernetic scanner is not quite it. It's important to resolve issues like these at the table, but it's not exactly fun for the KZbin listener. At least this one.

@@andrzejponiatowski1677 I understand, it's already a highly edited show so most of what you hear is left in on purpose. It can feel a bit out of place sometimes as the audio production quality is high but also it's our home game recorded in a living room. If it were something like an audio play or scripted podcast obviously these things would be cut out or everyone would just be agreeable all the time, but for us it's more a reflection of our playing together as friends. Arguments can happen and yes it's less ideal as a listening experience. You may be comforted to know that the disagreements are still edited to be as entertaining or less painful to listen to as possible lol. The response from the audience about keeping in moments like these have been overwhelmingly positive so this has also contributed to our confidence in showing this side of table play. Thanks for the thoughtful comment! I hope parts like this serve to elevate the other bits of the show :)

@nwtbpodcast awesome. Thankyou for doing these, they clearly take a lot of effort and they're brilliant. I also think the video where you show how you edit a podcast should be mandatory viewing for those who watch the channel. Definitely made me appreciate them even more.

The Data Ghost's expression I imagine is rather similar to Andres's at the time.

This episode really stressed me out... but probably not in the way you intended? Hope for less of *that* going forward because otherwise I've been enjoying this run.

Hi, thanks for the comment! These things can happen every once in a while at a table of friends (friends arguing over games of monopoly come to mind :) , but it was a conscious choice to leave the conflict mostly intact in the show to show how we resolve it. I can say that there's probably only one more instance in one of the last episodes, I'll make sure I put a caution for next time with a bookmark for people to skip it if they prefer.

@@nwtbpodcast thanks! You know, it's funny. I love horror stuff. I don't get bothered by much. I've understood conceptually why trigger warnings are necessary, but not experientially. I did not realize how much Table Conflict would get under my skin. Anyway, keep up the good work! Absolutely loving your run of Gradient Descent.

@nwtbpodcast I believe keeping the table conflict in is quite important. Cherry picking the most perfect moments and not showing that above table issues can occur isn't great as it can set unrealistic expectations for people as to what a real RPG session can be like. People can have disagreements and keep on being friends and carry on playing. Plus it had the music to make everything okay.😂

I appreciate the kazoos and seeing how it's resolved is actually kind of... educational ya know?
