This is a short documentary-style program that I did for college on various ghost sightings around the Colonial Williamsburg area.

I was there 6 months ago and I saw a shadow go up a staircase from the corner of my eye. I did not say anything and kept it to myself, but I know what I saw.

The Randolph house is original....think, there were like 30 deaths in and around that house since it was built! Accidents and natural deaths....bound to be some kind of activity. Stood outside at night with a ghost tour last night and it is super creepy!

Mike Anderson I’ve been a guide on those tours and I still will not even set foot on the gravel out front.

@@hannahlouka4300 I went last spring with my girlfriend for our annual trip. We took a ghost tour at night with a gentleman who worked in the house during the day. When we arrived at the Randolph house, our guide started the usual takes of the house. My girl and I saw a woman in colonial era clothes walking around in one of the windows with 2 others. We figured it had to be one of the reenactors finishing for the night (this was late). When we asked our guide if someone would be in there, he assured us everyone would be gone from the day's tours. We still aren't sure if what we saw was a ghost or not, but still creeped us out 😱

My family visited Williamsburg in July 1976, for the bicentennial. I was 12. As we toured the Peyton Randolph house, we walked through this huge 1st floor room filled with portraits of Williamsburg residents on every wall from ceiling to floor. I was tired from walking, so I sat down in a big red velvet chair. I was just sitting there and thinking of all the people in those portraits. It got really quiet. As in, completely totally silent.... Next thing I know, a woman in Colonial dress comes up, says "Where have you been? We've been looking everywhere for you!" I told her I'd been sitting right there in the chair looking at the portraits. She led me to the front door, where several employees were standing with my parents. All the employees said they had each checked every room in that house several times, looking for me, calling my name, and that I was nowhere to be found!! I'd apparently been "missing" for 20 minutes!! True story.

I love Williamsburg! I went there a few years ago with my cousins and the history there is so interesting. But i was in a bathroom alone and I swear something was walking outside the stall. No one else was there... SO COOL 🤣 I can’t wait until I can go back sometime. My cousins an I were in elementary/middle school and I think we could enjoy so much more of the history now!

I love this video & hope that you got an A+. I visited the Peyton House in 1998; we were leaving and something "pushed" me as I was walking down the stairs. No one was behind me.

I think some people are just more psychic than others and even though they may not physically see a ghost; they can sense a presence. I know when I toured the Gettysburg battlefield some years ago; there was almost a palpable sadness which you can experience not only in yourself; but also see the same in other people. I think people just intuitively feel mass tragic death at that battlefield.

I was here last summer at the Peyton Randolph house and that was so scary. Well we picked up a lot of entities and spirits. I was actually pushed and I blacked out at the Randolph house. I got so dizzy at the house.. but everything there was scary. Also my friend caught a little girl in one of the top story windows in the house.

Last summer the upper level of the jail was open to the public when I was there. I went up there. It was dark and spooky. Took some pictures. They had a life size black beard doll in one if the cells. Right before I took the picture in the cell with the doll, an unexplained light flew in front of me. Don't know what it was. Maybe it was black beard trying to tell me something. I also took a picture at the court house at night and an impossible light source was floating the tree near the benches. That is the 1st ghost picture I've ever taken. My dad has taken pictures at cw near the magazine with orbes in the picture.

Well this taught me more about where I live, I didn't know there was an old insane asylum Once my dad was at a ghost tour in colonial Williamsburg and, since the Randolph house is the most haunted house there, of course they would talk about it. So after the talk thingy, my dad went on the porch and he suddenly got really sick, and when he went off of the porch he was perfectly fine

I’ve lived in “The Burg” my entire life, & never seen a ghost. I did have one CW employee tell me that she was alone in one of the buildings, & was hit by a tiny rock from behind. I was also told that a maintenance guy came running out of one of the buildings in shock after seeing a woman in an upstairs bedroom (a Spirit). The first Africans brought to the New World, landed in the Jamestown Settlement here in Williamsburg, that’s how far back the history goes.

If you feel your home or business is haunted, and you live in The Hampton Roads, Va area look up RTL Paranormal. You can find them on Facebook.

I was raised here in Hampton roads, and visited Williamsburg numerous times. I always felt it spooky. only in the small church I felt comfortable. I always felt sorry for the Indians.

I did the ghost tour and every night they said that the 2nd and 3rd window on the 2nd floor would glow (this is only at night) and it did but if u take pictures of the side of the house which is what I do u can find a women in the window of the 2nd floor and find a woman in the bottom left of the window and sometimes a boy with her on the bottom right of the window and to add to this those window are the windows of the oak panel bedroom which is really cool

Was this documentary done for a Radford University class? I remember a similar film being made whilst I was a senior in the Media Studies program there.
@MrAshby788 жыл бұрын
It wasn't done for a class, but it was for ROC-TV back in fall 2004, I think.

Lived tortured, unhappy lives? Why if they lived that way in life, can they not now be free of such an unenviable existence in the afterlife (if there is one)? Why can they not now be happy or peaceful. To live with a mental illness back in the 18th century would have perhaps left the bearer with few alternatives. If suicide be one then why not after such act the condemned not have the shackles of an illness lifted from them forever. To have a mental illness and not be able to show others your condition and convince them that what they view as odd is to be condemned.
