These are old Hawkins and Powers birds. From my understanding several of these are owned by various museums and individuals across the country and are waiting to be moved. Couldnt tell you much more than that though. There is a museum across from that field behind a rest stop.

Watching this is rather like looking a an accident scene with multiple fatalities. Fascinating and at the same time heartbreaking. I know not all things can be restored. They could restore a few . But they could also be converted into housing and other useful things. As a old fart who spoke his first word in a DC-3 a long time ago I can only look with reverence , and thank you for having taken the time to do this. It is important.

I’m a bit past 70 now but as a child lived across the street from Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton OH. I’ve seen C-119 Box Cars and KC-97’s in their twilight years with MATS and Tanker Command. The highlight of summer vacation was standing at the perimeter fence and watching as ground crew moved those old prop planes about the parking ramp and performed engine run ups. Oh the oil smoke of those Wright Cyclones and Pratt&Whitney’s on start up. It was intoxicating to a young kid in love with airplanes.

That last airplane is a C-119 Fairchild boxcar in Canadian air Force colors! It was operated most likely out of Trenton On. As it was and is still our primary transport airfield. There seems to be no info on tail registries. But I could tell it was on the underside of that wing.

@@VMCAviationVideos I noticed cause I was a ATIS tech (radar tech specializing) in the Canadian forces. My unit was stationed out of 8Wing Trenton. I have seen that zig zag stripe on many static museum PC's at the museum attached to the end of the "active". Drove by them dozens of times a day. What I'd also like to know is where that airframe is/was. Would love to forward info to friends in Trenton with that museum to see if they're interested to bring an old bird home.

Not sure if you know about this, but down here in Colorado Springs, there's an old KC-97 (refueler version of the ones seen here) that's been converted into a restaurant. It's called simply "The Airplane Restaurant", and it's one of the best places in town to eat. LOVE it. You mentioned flying to Casper---that former USAAC/USAAF base was where my grandfather took his B-24 training in WW2. 466th BG (Heavy), Attlebridge, England.

At 10:58, the refueling boom ops windows off of the KC-97s. Those boom operators were really in a cramped space in the lower side of the tail section compared to todays' std. Geez? --- The two Navy birds are C-54s, N67017-19, mfg 1944 era. Good vid stuff.
