Tsushima is literally that game that makes you take a step back and really ponder life in a way that is rarely achieved by a game. Its the game that can take any outsider like myself and get interested in the katana.

True, got myself into swords because of this game

I’ve never played the game either, but have bought 4 katana of varying types from JKOO, so it’s nice to see what looks like the video game swords represented pretty well. I too am a stickler for horn parts, especially at that price point. Great review as usual Matt!

Ghost of Tsushima is one of my favorite games. Absolutely beautiful, good story, very engaging. Actually, it was the reason I bought back into swords.

Jkoo seems pretty friendly if you're polite about making changes to an order so I'd bet if one asked and was willing to spend a bit more you could get these with two scabbards,one plain for use,the heavy clunky one for display. And far as game/movie swords those look like something you could see a real Samurai carrying around.

Great game. I recommend 1 playthru to anyone who loves Samurai/Ninja/Japanese history. The protagonist kinda goes thru a process where he goes from honorable samurai to sneaky ninja. Totally worth it.

Very interesting... that game is what fired my interest in buying a katana. It's a nice facsimile of your character's original swords although you can acquire quite a few other designs as you play the game. As someone else noted, the sequel game is coming fairly soon so that is likely what drove the timing on these swords.

awesome blades and amazing review as always. is that a short wakizashi or a long tanto tho? :)
@RealShrigmaMale17 күн бұрын
In the game it’s a Katana and a tanto so I’m assuming the one in the video is a long tanto.

If you ever get a chance you should try the game. It's a masterpiece.

A proper koiguchi, horn or metal, prevents the saya from splitting. And, of course, a horn kurikata is stronger, but it also depends on whether is has been lazily glued on or lacquered into the saya. Any sort of metal or horn (other than kurikata) is really just to keep the saya from splitting during combat. I 100% agree that these swords are not traditional at all. The carved kamon between the koiguchi and kurikata is definitely not anything you'd see in Japan. The kojiri is terrible, but I didn't realize it's so bad that it also weighs down the saya. The kurikata is also way too far down the saya. People in the west often prefer this because they have big hands, but the actual truth is that they don't know how to use their sword. However, I've played the game, and this seems like a very good rendition of the swords in the game. It looks great if someone buys this because they want a real version of the game swords, and have it as decoration. Don't expect these swords to be anywhere near acceptable for training under a proper teacher though.

Totally agree. The Koiguchi is an important piece from a safety perspective. I've seen saya split open from a poor Batto or Noto, and that can be a dangerous situation. I prefer metal Koiguchi because I like Tachi and Gunto, but horn Koiguchi is less likely to scratch your polish

Nice swords I have a pair with the blue scabbards nice for display and bottle cutter.

Saya would be really nice without the brass sleeve on the end. Nice cutting with it

Ito wrap was really one of the worst looking while tight. Fittings were ok, but overall assembly was lacking. Split the price $400/$200 and neither one really seems worth it. Other brands now offer more for the same or less. Not bad at all, it's just you can do better if you look around. However, we all like what we like! Thanks for the review.

I'm a child but I'm always disappointed when you don't destroy a sword. Great video anyway!

It is interesting how different a chape makes the katana carry. A chape is quite important in Euro swords, without it the blade often doesn't carry right. Yet on a katana it makes things weird.
@Matthew_Jensen28 күн бұрын
Many katana had a metal chape as well but this one is just very thick and large. I don't know that I have ever had a sword with as much weight at the tip.

I do not like the fact that the Ito wrap is white and will get dirty and show dirt easily.

The in game sword has a double bo hi. Ghost of Tsushima is a masterpiece, it made me buy my gold series musashi
@exander363629 күн бұрын
Actually, the model changes slightly as you upgrade it. It starts with no bo-ho, in the mid tiers it has a single, and then the highest upgrades have double hi. The hamon changes slightly as well.

@exander3636 well damn, if I wasn't into path of titans I'd have to give it a 7th playthrough to check
