The miter gears business with transferring adjustment from on side to the other was way cool...i had no idea. And your method for cleaning up the ways on a lathe...perfect. Just pulled my wood shop out of five years' storage and my planer is stuck in one spot. High five for this video series.

Hello, So you prefer the water method with the fine pads to the 3M pads? I am really enjoying the series as I have recently acquired that same planer to replace my old Ryobi 10" that I bought new when these portable planers first came out. Thanks for the detail. Take care. Doug

Douglas, the water pads are just what I chose to use. 3M pads may give the same results. It would at least be worth a shot over purchasing something else. Glad you are liking the series, and good luck with yours, G.

I must have missed the section on actually changing the cutting knives. Which video is this part in? Thank you. Love the detailed video and instructions.

Thanks Gregg! I think I spoke about the knives and springs in the first part of the series- but didn't actually show removing them. The installation of the knives should be in this video. G. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2K9lmaAjr12naM

I need help with this planer. I am looking at buying one for 50 bucks but the guy says it may need new blades or rollers because of uneven cutting of stock wider than 6 inches. But 6 inches or under works just fine. Is there anything I should look for?
@ghostses8 жыл бұрын
+Phil Kennerk I would first adjust the blades since it's cutting uneven and make sure they're sharp. If the rollers are dirty, clean them up. Then your might wax the table and try again. On wider stock, make extremely small cuts. Good luck, G.

Thanks for all you help. But it's different from the one you work on. It's called a gearbox guard. Part number 1342176, model number is 22-560.

That's cool. I only found one image to see what it looks like. If you can't find one, it does look like something that could be made from wood. Or perhaps from sheet plastic and glued together. Take care, G.

when you chucked up the cutterhead, you failed to mention that you unscrewed/ took off the pinion gear to hold the cutterhead with your center?????

Joseph, the removal of the gear was shown or mentioned in a part prior this one. It didn't occur to me to mention it here since it was already addressed. The entire series was shot in chronological order. G.

My planer doesn't have a belt guard. Is this a big deal?

Jeff, I would prefer mine to have one. You might be able to take a piece of pvc pipe with proper width, slit it, then use a heat gun to form the shape. Just a thought. Good luck, G.
