It seems that a lot of people are having a problem with the fluid product/insecticide tank leaking around the gasket and running down their back. The old style was designed much better. I had no Idea that this unit would distribute dry matter also. I replaced the gasket between the tank to no avail. I explored the internet for a remedy, no luck. It appears that the black plastic that is permanently attached to the bottom of the tank has bowed over time. I took the old gasket that didn't appear to be damaged and double stacked it with the new gasket and it slowed down the leaking considerably but not completely. I live in middle Georgia and I'm sure this machine has been left in the sun which probably attributed to the distortion of the mating face from the tank to the blower. I guess the next option would be to buy a new tank and keep it out of the sun.
@ghostses29 күн бұрын
I can't say. I've not had a problem with mine leaking, but will say its never been left out in the sun. I think you're on to something there. Good luck, G.
@leonmanley384023 күн бұрын
@@ghostses I was unaware what the dry side was for until I watched your video. Great video. I filled the tank and the leak got considerably worse. Upon further investigation I found the vent/pressure hose had come loose at the top. It was hard and not sealing at the bottom. I replaced the rubber tube and tried it with the single new gasket. I still had a leak so I doubled the gaskets. Didn't leak a drop.

@ghostses this series is outstanding. Would you like to do another one? ;) The 5.7 vortec in my 2000 express died / dieseled out in a little puff of smoke (emanating from the intake after) while just idling in the driveway the other day. I have never done a teardown or rebuild, and it is intimidating (and it is a snub nose van, to boot.. lift the body off the frame as step 1, lol). Would be a life achievement to tackle it tho.
@ghostsesАй бұрын
Thanks but yeah, NO...lol. I'm not familiar with that van, but did do a van eons ago where I removed the engine from the sliding door access. I would look for other videos on how yours could be done. As far as the rebuild itself, if you have any type of mechanical aptitude, I honestly think you could do the job yourself coupled with the work of a machine shop. The main issues is getting it out and back in. Since it seems to be dead and useless, why not just give it a go? At this point, you can't make it worse. You could also look for a crate or reman engine and would only have to remove and replace yours. Either way, feedback with what you do- good or bad. Good luck and take care, G.
