I so love, how the "rock mineral community" came together in such a short period of time 💛 This is the kind of camaraderie I used to enjoy while gold prospecting. Everyone gathered and admired each other's findings, one would hear (elaborate) stories by seasoned miners, learn something, and before you knew it, hours had gone by while being immersed in a completely different world and state of mind. I'm so happy you experienced this with them - and also with your visitors Dan, Jason, and Scott. I wish you many more such wonderful and precious moments 🥰 PS: The cold weather and devastating winter storms affected many of us here in LA as well. It was depressing. But, today, on this sunny and warm Easter Sunday, I finally removed the Mylar emergency blankets from the drafty jalousie windows in my uninsulated 1960's apartment. It felt sooo good 🥰🌷🌞 Take care of yourself, Brent - I look forward to your next video.

Ground would have been a lot more solid back then & would have had sturdy & intact ladders everywhere. Would have been a lot easier to traverse back then then it is now. Small rocks falling has made the ground slippery gravel in the modern day partner that with the rot & collapsing of the ladder system makes it a lot more difficult.

Brent, After watching all your videos thru the years, I started wondering about these inaccessible shafts you come across. I've listed some ideas below. If you were able to find a thick rubber type balloon(maybe an old fashioned hot water bag) that could be covered with a Kevlar or similar type abrasion resistant material, you could fill them with a small bottle of helium and launch them up these shafts from the 900 or 1100 level and see where they end up. If you wanted to, you get get creative and tie long streamers or rolls of colored surveyors tape that would act as a long tail on them. I also thought you could possibly attach a can of ground marking spray paint sideways underneath the balloon and jam the nozzle open right before you released the helium balloon, it would mark the walls on the way up in case the balloon was to pop, you would still know where it went via the paint markings on the wall. There are a wide variety of colors of marking spray paint, so you could use one color for each level of the mine, and record it in a database. Another thought I had was if you had enough people, you could station people at all levels at the ends of the horizontal shafts, and set off a large colored smoke bomb up a shaft and see if the people above saw the colored smoke. Keep up the great work and always wear your climbing helmet. If you're not sponsored by a climbing rope supplier, you might consider it. Then you could just leave those ropes in place.

Wow Brent...all of what was in this video was SO COOL to see and learn about. We think you definitely SHOULD start taking small, medium and large mineral/rock specimens out of your mine and start 'The Cerro Gordo Jewelry And Gem Store', or something close to that. You could make a nice income to support restoring the town and making it into a true ghost town/old mining community tourist destination WHILE you get to explore the mine and find new spots with different ores, cool rocks and things left behind by the miners. You can have a win, win, win situation on your hands (a turnaround) by selling jewelry and specimens, which will ALSO get the word out and promote Cerro Gordo and what it has to offer people who want to see and experience it. ;)

The gem society looks like a great bunch of people who will share so much with you. This was a hard winter on many people but the sun is out and brighter days are ahead.

As a modern day miner myself it's great to see your passion for this historic mine that you enter and and explore for people to see and understand some of the harsh conditions mining was back then to what it is now thankyou for the journey that you create on this channel and please don't stop.

Its still pretty harsh conditions bro. This guy has to lower himself way down and fills his pockets with rocks and has to hoist himself back up to the top. big rocks held up by old wood. Just getting the elivator to work was a challange.

I wonder how it is to a modern miner, someone going down something that probably SCREAMS health and safety code violations in a modern mine.

Brent that was intense! The suspense and anxiety level was incredible. Bravo that took some serious courage and persistence. Another huge milestone for Cera Gordo

If I ever came into money. Seeing your mine would be a bucket list item for sure. We have plenty of mines here in Ballarat Australia, but yours being left untouched for so long makes it one of a kind. Glad to see you again.

Glad you take the mental health stuff seriously. Isolation can be really great, but forced isolation with weather and everything else can be a bit much in sure! Happy to have better weather so you can get back out exploring!! Stay well!!

Great to see you back at it! It amazes me how you keep your nerves going down those mines into the unknown and the darkness but I bet the excitement of exploring outweighs it all! Keep up the great content 😁

It is always stressful watching you in the mines. Glad that you are being safe and using the buddy system when doing the more scary sections of the mine. Can't wait to see more of your adventures.

Brent, I didn't want this beautiful journey to end. I've been a fan and subscriber since day 1. Thanks for letting us tag along with you. Seeing Dan and Jason with you was a treat in itself.

I always love watching your adventures but this is by far one of my most favorite videos you've posted! It always makes me nervous when you go down into the mine. But it's incredible to see everything. So incredibly beautiful! I can't even hardly imagine how the miners must have felt when they went to work every day. I would think some of them felt exactly as you do. I love the idea of a jewelry company. I hope that becomes a reality. I hope you would set up a website because I would love to buy some jewelry! I also think in addition, it would do well for you to sell some of the pieces in their natural form just how you have collected them. Many of the gem and mineral collectors would appreciate that I'm sure.

My wife and I came from Lexington, Ky to see Cerro Gordo. We got up there in a four cylinder Nissan. It was such an incredible experience to see the town. Thank you for allowing people to come.
