Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on KZbin!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
WARNING
Abandoned mines and ruined structures have many hazards and can severely injure or even kill you. Do not attempt to copy or re-enact situations or scenarios seen in this video. Stay Out and Stay Alive: • Gly Says... STAY OUT S...
NOTICE This video and all commentary therein including comments by the viewer is for entertainment purposes only and not intended to be instructional.
Whew! You made it this far? Good for you!

As a former coal miner of 22 1/2 years, I have seen my share of dangerous roof and ribs. There were several fatalities of various causes at a couple of the mines I worked at. It was when we were pulling (mining) pillars (room and pillar mining) after driving up a section of the mine that it became really dangerous. I was a continuous miner operator for most of that time although I also did a lot of roof bolting. I developed PTSD from all the years of escaping from falling ribs and top. I still occasionally have nightmares. You Sir are a brave individual.

@@lowz1369 guess how many females worked in 19th and 20th century ore mines? Few if any until a little incident called WWII where they needed all the men to go fight and die in Europe and the Pacific, necessitating female manpower to keep industry afloat in the absence of the regular crew. Men on average work more life threatening jobs than women, this is a universal fact. They then also tend to have hobbies with complimentary threat levels. I've worked in healthcare for 5 years with the elderly, and the demographic is disproportionately female in all arenas: memory care, long term care, and assisted living. Even the staff is 90% female. I was often the only male on staff for my shifts. Learn to take a joke.

Gly, as you are now world renowned and making these incredibly videos for all of our enjoyment and yours too, I only have a minor complaint and I don't know if it's KZbin or your channel, but there's so many commercials. Not that I will stop watching. 😁 Is it a KZbin thing or does it help pay the bills? Sincerely and loyally a fan for as long as these videos stay up. Ant tell Mr. M that he's an animal at 82 doing what he does! 👍👍👍 I have a huge mine where I live in calif. I would love for you to see. The first 200 yards is solid granite and about 25'×24'. It's ginormous. Lol. Got to repel about 18 feet to get in but it really is a big mine. Looking forward to your next video!

jonnyboy65ables “Gly”: KZbin’s algorithm has detected that the channel is growing fast so it is dropping in more commercials than usual. Other than turning monetization on or off I don’t have control as to how many commercials they show. Yes, the ads are generating the channel a fair income stream and it’s helping the channel tremendously.

The patterns on the walls in the Barite area were very interesting. In one section I wondered if there were fossil remains but I was probably wrong. The wood frames, ladders, etc. always amaze me; usually the seams tuck so well. Wish you had heard my telling you to turn around and go back the way you came when you pointed out the wet area!! That stretch of rock failure was a wee bit much. Take care, stay safe.

Yeah, I second the call for pic's of Mrs. M's dinners! Keep up the great videos Gly. I put your words of warning to good use this week poking around some really old coal mining trenches up here in PA this week. Open pits are just as dangerous are being in a mine! Found a very old collapsed actual coal mine on the side of the same mountain, orange water and all. Be Safe out there!

That was pretty dramatic, tiptoeing through a thoroughly rotten section of a mine. Your bravery, or fool-hardiness, is appreciated as most people watching always want to see what's at the end of that drift or down that winze but there is a time and place to call it too risky. To assure your rescue I assume you had the car keys? What prompted them to drive a vertical shaft where they did? There didn't appear to be any evidence of silver ore at the 100-foot station. An outcropping of barite on the surface? That is a lot of shaft to hope they finally hit a vein of something that paid. Thanks for sharing.
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces 3 жыл бұрын
“Gly”: They found a vein of Barite that went down nearly 1000 feet into the hill and to remove it they had to get underneath the vein so that they could use gravity to remove the ore more efficiently.
