Dear Brent, I can’t tell you how much your story has helped me. I’m a Paradise resident who fractured my back just months before the fire ripped through our town and took everything. I lost my home and business in that fire. And your videos gave me the strength to keep going in what felt like rebuilding in not only a ghost town but remnants that look like hell on earth. It’s the most hardcore thing I’ve ever lived through. New fire codes that required me to build a deck out of 8” x 8” pressure treated lumber. I had to buy a chainsaw to fit my skillsaw to cut them and because I chose a 17 sided heptadecagon, it required angled end cuts! as most builders said it would take years before they could get to rebuilding my home. After three moves from one bad rental to another. I chose to move back to the burnt out property and rented a 5th wheel to live in. So my daughter and I could be here. Rather than travel here everyday. Not thinking about the fact everything was gone. No food, no stores nothing. So you forget after late nights trying to get that project done and you forget you have no food, we had a lot of food trucks in the beginning and still 4 years later some still serve this community. There’s so much more I hope to share with you in person when I actually get the time to come visit in person. Paradise has a bit of mining history too. Dogtown was where the largest gold nugget found to date in California. April 1859 a 54 pound gold nugget was found. But just want you to know how much you inspired me to keep going! Thru every obstacle and really just helped knowing someone else was building there dream. Keep up the amazing job you’re doing. And know many of us are proud of your accomplishments. Can’t wait to come see the Hotel when it’s done. It’s about an 8 hours drive from here but I’m brainstorming everytime I see your videos or read an email, what I’ve learned that would help you. 🙏❤️‍🩹 thank you from the bottom of my heart! Rock on brother!!! 😊

I used to live near Red Bluff. I hear the fires were set by DEWs (direct energy weapons) and I’ve seen actual photos of such. Too bad the scapegoat became PG&E. In a Magalia homes burnt but not the trees. One side of the street but not the other. My sister in law lived in Magalia and lost her home as well. The goal was to have a train tracts from China to Southern California. But I think the 2016 winner of the presidential election changed all that. Now they did the same thing to Lahaina Maui. Praying soon you will be compensated for your loss, not just insurance payment.

I found your channel during the pandemic, still dealing with lifelong depression. Along with having the opportunity to work hard, stability and some good people in my life, this channel helped teach me to focus on manifesting a positive future rather than lingering on the past. As of this last year or two, I can say with surety that since age 26, I'm no longer depressed. Thanks!

I remember finding your channel when there was only three videos on it. It's been a really cool journey to follow from all the way back at the start of the pandemic and seeing you discover the various secrets and areas no human has been in a very long time. Then seeing you rebuild after the tragedy of the fire has been so inspiring. I hope someday to come up and stay in the revived American Hotel and see all of the work you've done in person. Keep on keeping on Brent, you're a real gem for sharing this adventure with all of us.

After almost four years, these videos have become so professional, a joy to watch. The book seemingly isn't available in the UK till March 2024, but it's on my wishlist. Proud to have watched these videos from the start. You talk about someday leaving your fingerprint on CG.. You have done already. Be proud of what you've achieved in the time you've been there already. Internet 900ft below ground level... The restoration of the buildings, the library.. and most importantly, the community you are building there. - Someday, somehow... I dream about spending a few nights in your hotel and experiencing just a slice of the joy you experience from CG.

OMG I laughed when I saw you guys working on the collapse with that breaker bar. I helped dig out a full basement under my parent's house in my teens and I used one of those to break up rocks and cut roots. I called it, "the Misery Stick" I still have the damned thing out in the shed. 😥

The stories some of those bars could tell! I work at a camp in the mountains of Colorado and we use several of those bars for all kinds of things. I bent one once trying to pry a rock up! My arms are still tired of picking that thing up and slamming it down again trying to chip the rock in a trench we were digging for a new power line after we accidentally knocked down a power pole during a tree removal gone wrong. Last year my friend was holding the bar resting the end of it on a rock when it slipped and landed on his big toe!

Brent, has it really been that long? I have been a follower since you started the channel. I remember the first video of you stuck walking into town after your truck got stuck. I was hooked and had to see how things would turn out for you. It's been a wild ride and I enjoy watching your exploits every week. I'll grab a copy of your book from Amazon and continue to follow you on your future exploits.

It's very exciting to see the work that has been done on the American Hotel. I saw a brief drone shot of the road that was repaired after the last storm. I know you had asked for advice about putting some type of drainage or something along the road next time. It looked different in the drone shot. In your next video, could you briefly mention if any preventative measures were done to try to protect the road in the future? Maybe nothing different was done, and that is why you didn't mention it. I was just curious.

Preordered the book Brent! Thanks for the (probably) hundreds of hours of entertainment and the excitement that comes with watching a major plan come together. The anticipation from waiting to see what the future unfolds in that town is amazing. I'm up in Washington myself, but I really hope I can come down and visit someday. Thanks for making amazing high quality content!

My friend and I had the privilege of visiting the old hotel and the town several years before you bought the town. It was amazing to me back then. I hope my health will allow me to see what you have done with the place in a year or two.

Amazon delivered your book last Friday and yesterday I finished it! Great job, Brent. So many stories that detail the history of Cero Gordo and most especially thank you for opening up and being transparent about the highs and lows of life. We live in a social media wonderland where everything is super fantastic... and we all know that is BS. Sometimes life hands you tough times, like a fire, or a loss of a friend, or ... So much that I personally related to from my own life of various adventures and misadventures... like the time my brothers and I tried to find an abandoned cavern outside Colombia, CA and went down into the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, never finding the cavern, then making the near fatal decision to hike down onto the river canyon and hike out, not realizing the temperature at the bottom was well over a 100 degree plus. Despite walking out in water, we began suffering heat stroke! Just like you on the Salt Tram trail, we made it out, but it was touch and go there. Again, thank you! Now I have to figure out how to download my audible version I bought!

Time…that’s all anyone needs. So many jobs and things to do around Cerro Gordo. Time to start or finish one, then on to another. ❤❤ The videos are enlightening for me, from the Caretaker days of visitors (their videos), to all of the videos you’ve made. Thank you for including your neighboring towns, all a part of past history & now in the present. I like that Washington, fir & cedar will become part of Cerro Gordo’s present history & preserved. I am enjoying another couple youtube channel’s because of their help given to Cerro Gordo. May the continued history be fulfilled & successful.

Hello Brent. Been following your great story and quest regarding the history and re-development of Sierra Gordo. This includes gathering the man power and materials to accomplish where you are today. Your a soul after my own heart. Truly excites me seeing you presenting each video and seeing how much you and the people with you have gotten done. WOW. The hotel really is coming along. Let's pray the snow stays away a little longer, not until you get the roofing on. Your taking us into the canyon showing the petroglives is very special. The book you have been able to get to market, great stuff. I could go on and on of what I have seen you been able to do so far. It's all great. Thank you Brent for sharing and showing us your great ambition restoring Sierra Gordo with many blessings.

What an amazing journey, Brent - I always look forward to your videos, and now to your e-mails too 💞 I also greatly appreciate all the wonderful people, who offer their skills and help with various tasks. What a great community! 💞 It's not mentioned in the video, but thanks to your e-mail, we learned that this precious document from Inyo county only survived the earthquake and courthouse fire(s) because someone working at the courthouse had taken it home for recordkeeping. It's yet another example of the Universe working in mysterious ways and delivering when the time is right 💞
