True Open world i don't think would work for a final fantasy game. The final fantasy series has always been in a sense, focused primarily on delivering a linear story that you follow. But also to give you the freedom to go off the beaten path and do certain optional activities and side quests, but mainly the story has always been the main driving force. I am really glad they decided to take this approach with FF XV, keeping things traditional to the franchise. Rather then have something like Skyrim where its fully open world and you can see and do everything right from the beginning or go any where you desire. I think that would ultimately diminish the experience and it wouldn't be a Final fantasy game. Other fans expressed concern bout it being something like Xenoblade where you just get hundreds upon hundreds of quests and mission and the story is not even the bulk of the experience. I am glad that this is not the case and instead the games retain those traditional elements, all well delivering a next gen graphical experience with a fully lifelike and visually stunning world, all set out along the path of your main core story.

Sure it's still in progress, but as it looks now there are some serious flaws with the controls, and I'm not getting the impression that they see these as a priority to fix. Things that have a severe impact of how much you feel in control of the game instead of trying to figure out how the game is moving your character around. Things like being able to control in which direction you attack by pressing the stick instead of automatically targetting an enemy, or being able to do special attacks regardless of distance to the enemy. If I ask some questions about this type of thing, will GI be able to answer them?

Regarding the discussion about FFXV's engine, that actually is new information. Square Enix has been promoting their Luminous Studio as recently as late last year. There was the dx12 footage of Witch [Cry], the GDC videos of the engine's capabilities (with FFXV footage), and other things. So I'm pretty sure Joe had it wrong in thinking this was known or even hinted at.

I would like to get into FF15, but out of the gate there is quite alot to take in, and i just want a good game. which, honestly that could still be the case, however with an RPG, especially a JRPG, the major selling point is the actual story and characters, so knowing that alot of the story for the game is gonna be put in other forms of media turns me off to it. It's still the same problem that 13 had in that there's just too much going on, and I think i would like it much more if it just began with the game, and then they decided to expand on the fiction later.
@RagnarokMasta8 жыл бұрын
People will always go about Final Fantasy "this is all I want" when they really just want the last favorite final fantasy they played or their favorite game. Square needs to change some things and try not to market FF as a fashion label or something, but we have to admit we are a pretty fucked up fanbase, with mixed messages everywhere at times. I really have to wonder, in the cynical part of myself, whether people actually want this game to succeed, or if they just want Square to be humbled by failure and just kowtow to their desires, forsaking any future of innovation for "what works". Hopefully I am wrong about that. Nice job guys, I hope people have a clearer picture that Tabata and his crew are serious about doing all they can to make a good game.
@Darji81148 жыл бұрын
+RagnarokMasta Because every FF is so different then the other one. Be it the combat, mechanics , setting, story, progression etc. FF was never a stale IP like for example the elder scrolls series.

I just hope they finally fix the antialiasing.
@garmmermibe53978 жыл бұрын
+Jimmy Holdsworth The edges of themodels are extremely jagged. Antialiasing gets rod of jaggies and makes everything look smoother. And, while it's important to have a fun and functional game, I'm kinda sad the the trailers on my phone look better than the actual game on my console, and it's mostly because of jaggies.
@garmmermibe53978 жыл бұрын
+Jimmy Holdsworth I certainly hope so. I'm only worried because the Platinum demo is supposed to show the final graphics. And, it's been like a year since I played episode duscae but the edges of the car still look like sandpaper. Ugh, I really hope they do put some better antialiasing in.

When Hanson was saying he hopes they don't mess up the story for the game and tell a cohesive throughline story. Joe went OFF on him. And then, once Hanson and Reiner talk him down, he makes a "whatever" face. Super immature and what I've come to expect from him.

+TheDrumkid92 they are all friends and are allowed to be immature with one another. Not a big deal.

+unoder Vs XIII only entered full development in 2010 as the staff kept getting shifted to XIII saga games. Eventually the Vs project was canceled ( The director mentioned this back in 2014) and scraps of Vs was used to build a new game in a new engine.
