Steven ogg as Trevor from GTA V, Daniel radcliffe as Harry Potter from Harry potter, Arnold Schwarzenegger as Terminator, Vin diesel as Dom Toretto etc. Once you land an iconic role, it'll be so hard to separate an actor from their role, especially if you don't know them or have seen them outside of their material. Of course, most actors do not act like their role outside of acting unless asked to by a fan or something, so it's still baffling how some people can't separate the fiction from the reality, no matter how good their performance is. Immersion is a helluva thing, but even still, your the one who put those characters on your screen, you know it's paid actors. I don't understand why some people don't get that, but I guess it goes to show the strength of their performances and the value of their iconic characters!

The only time I have trouble accepting someone who had an iconic role in something is when they are acting in something else. I've personally met Giancarlo. In reality he's just about the nicest, most warm-hearted man I've ever met. He told me about how he approaches playing his characters, digging deep into their motivations, never seeing himself as the "bad guy" even when he plays the bad guy. That's what makes Gus such a memorable and powerful character, he just sees himself as a good man who cares first and foremost about his family.

Honestly, to me, the thing that freaks me out the most about how Breaking Bad has shaped the image of Giancarlo is the fact that it’s him having a neutral expression that is scariest about the character of Gus. The character of Gus is cool, calculated, and when you’re in his way, looks at you with a cosmic apathy that could drain all the warmth from your body with just a deadpan stare. So imagine if Giancarlo just looks at you in, y’know, just in passing, that’d still probably send a shiver down my spine, even if he was just scanning the room for something as mundane as trying to find somewhere to sit.

That's why I love that they made him Moff Gideon in the Mandalotian Gus is my favorite character in breaking bad and Better Call Saul. I don't think you can put him up there with Darth Vadar and the Emperor. Although that Jury's still out for me since he just got started in the Mandalorian. Obviously Gus is a completely different characterl. He allowed himself to be outsmarted by a guy that was a conventinal genius but far from a criminal one. The only thing is his Spanish sucks. Anyone who speaks Spanish and watches breaking bad knows that the Spanish in the show is really bad. And no I’m not saying Mexican Spanish or Chilean Spanish is bad they just genuinely didn’t know how to pronounce words in Spanish. They sounded like Americans learning for the first time but they say it with such confidence that it sounds good. Ironically the few times Walter white speaks spanish he actually has the best pronunciation.

The funny think is that Giancarlo is not THAT physically imposing. He's 5'7 wich is tall for me at 4'7 but quite average for an adult man; he's actually smaller than most of the cast of BB/BCS BUT is presence is so impressive it makes him look as if he's bloody dark vader at 6'5. *but Gus would'nt have hurt the lady, he was usually quite nice with non-criminals civilians.

Most of the casts of Breaking Bad are of average to above-average height. I think the only one of the main casts close to being "tall" is probably Anna Gunn, who is 5'9; tall for an adult female, but none of them stood above 5'11, which is Bryan Cranston's height. But for Giancarlo (or Gus in this case), I'd like to think that his average height allows him to blend even more with his surroundings, adding to the façade of a modest businessman

My first experience of Giancarlo being the best bad guy ever was in the short-lived, and imo underrated, sci-fi serious "Revolution". I won't say he "makes the show" because there are other good actors and his boss in the show is a magnificent bad guy as well. But, Giancarlo could have carried the show if he had to!
