When Stanton barrels in a big moment of a big game, the only force more stunning than the swing speed and ball exit velocity is the palpable crowd devastation. It always seems to be 2 strikes with 2 outs and the crowd is not expecting Stanton to hit the ball. When he does, everyone in the park just wants to cry with the 10-12 y/o boys. And, there is a 2 minute “sinking in” period before another pitch is thrown…..always.

Don't get the wrong idea... Stanton absolutely uses his legs to their full power. A large step is not necessary, nor does it generate power. The step is all just personal preference, and a timing aid. The power comes from keeping the front hip closed (he does this to the extreme with his closed stance), creating tension that can be built up then released when the hands are coming through/driving the hips through the ball. Yes he is strong af, but he's not hitting bombs using "just arms."

I was a huge Dozier fan when he was with the Twins. After the year he hit like 45 home runs he started moving farther from the plate and the only pitches he could handle were the ones on the inside half of the plate. Throw the ball on the outer half and he was an easy out. Strictly a pull hitter.

@@emrow346 "They" who? Baseball does have a rule where 1 player gets repped from every team so some years you'll see guys who you might scratch your head but then you say it's the rule. Other guys are replacements. I'm not sure of Buxton's case, and/or where he bats in the Twins lineup but you're going to see lower averages more often now. You're going to see lower overall RBI numbers. You're seeing the home run to RBI ratio fall to 1:sub 3ish, meaning for every home run, you should have AT LEAST 3 RBI. A player hits 30 homers, he should automatically have 100 RBI. To me, anyone approaching 30hrs(26+) should have 100 RBI. But with the analytics now, average isn't as important to some but it's still a major stat. Don't ever believe otherwise.
@emrow3462 жыл бұрын
@@mpound97 by they I mean %80 of baseball community and ik how the allstar game works im not a casual. And with the 1 to 3 ratio hr to rbi I believe that's how it should be but its all about power these days you can have a .200 avg 30 hr 70 rbi and k 1 every 3 abs and you'll be considered really good then you have players that hit .300 with only 8-12 homeruns and around 40 to 50 rbi with 1 k every 7 abs and you're considered an avg player cuz you dont have 20 hr to go with it. Don't get me wrong hr are cool obviously but there's no strategy to baseball anymore no more bunting speed is not as valued cuz of it.
