It’s funny how many people don’t realise that high notes are just a change in mode. One of the eye openers for me was asking myself “what am I supposed covering with dark timbre?” At that point it was obvious. Find that other mode. You can then make a very big dark open sound without tension or force. The more you do it, you get to a point where you’re working for such physiological balance that you’re virtually doing nothing and out is rolling a massive sound.

Thank you for your comment! it's important to understand that high notes are not simply a change in vocal mode, but rather a result of a change in frequency and speed of the vibrations of the vocal cords. By focusing on proper breath support, resonance, and placement, singers can learn to produce high notes with ease and without tension or strain. It's important to find the right balance between dark timbre and open sound, and to work towards developing a physiological balance that allows for maximum vocal efficiency and power. With consistent practice and a focus on proper technique, singers can learn to produce a massive and powerful sound with ease and confidence. Keep up the good work, and don't hesitate to seek guidance from a knowledgeable teacher or coach if you need it.

Thank you for your kind words. As someone who is passionate about preserving the traditions and techniques of the Old School of singing, it is my pleasure to share my knowledge and experience with aspiring singers. As the great singers of the past have shown us, the voice is a remarkable instrument that has the power to move and inspire audiences in ways that are truly unforgettable.

I have listened to so many vocal coaches, and Giancarlo has helped me so much in comparison. I am more of a contemporary singer, but I can always recognize the classical technique some singers have. There are always exceptions, but generally speaking I think classical singers are typically unbeatable. It's always these guys who have that 4 octave range. As classical singers we are worried more about tessitura and note quality of course, however the higher your sketchy range is? Well the higher your tessitura gets, of course there's always a limit. I could always hit these notes early on, but he has helped me understand how to get consistent up there and improve the quality.

I'm glad to hear that my teachings have helped you adjust your approach to singing high notes. As a Maestro of the Old School of singing, I believe that understanding proper vocal direction and placement is crucial for achieving a powerful and healthy voice. While it may be tempting to push the voice upwards when singing high notes, this can actually lead to strain and tension in the throat. By focusing on proper breath support, resonance, and placement, you can learn to sing high notes with ease and clarity. Keep up the good work, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or concerns!

Student has a belt on his chest, that is key, intercostal muscles must expand, high notes and power come from the appoggio from the expansion of the ribs/intercostal, belts are great way to work out the muscles ^^^ like student above

Hola. Muchas gracias por compartir tu conocimiento y experiencia. Podrías hablar de la cobertura y giro del sonido. Mil gracias
@giancarlomonsalve
@giancarlomonsalve Жыл бұрын

Great video. You explain what I’ve already known about considering the notes above the staff a forward motion rather than vertical. I’ve been training for three years and made considerable progress but lately my biggest struggle is the fear that comes right before those passages in the middle of a lied or aria. What do you do to overcome that?
@giancarlomonsalve
@giancarlomonsalve 2 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! Well to overcome that you need to bypass the "Passaggio" with a good methodical approach, and than apply technique

In addition to high notes, how about flexibility for fuller voices like yours, to possibly sing heavier Rossini, Donizetti, Meyerbeer. I honestly don't know if I'm a tenor or baritone, I'm 58 and love to sing. Maybe I'll find a sponsor so I can study.

Giancarlo, I have a question. If I get to Eb5 in chest voice like you. Does that mean that I am Lyric tenor? Or Light lyric tenor. From E5 my voice become to falsetto. I can't hold it. What does it mean?. Am I light lyric tenor or lyric tenor. Is it normal get to Eb5 being lyric tenor as last note in chest voice?. Thank you

Could a tenor and baritone have a similar tessitura but just different timbres?
@giancarlomonsalve
@giancarlomonsalve Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is possible for a tenor and baritone to have a similar tessitura but different timbres. Tessitura refers to the range of notes that a singer is most comfortable singing, while timbre refers to the unique quality of a singer's voice. So, even if two singers have a similar range, their voices may sound different due to their individual timbres. It's important for singers to focus on developing their own unique sound and style, rather than comparing themselves to others.

I can reach d5#, something e5 but I can't go above that. And I can't do it even trying with head voice or falsetto - I'm not studying singing right now so maybe is because I just don't know how to technically do it. But it is supposed that head voice or falsetto gives you another high octave. I just can't do it. My head voice dies there too. And is like, I can do d5# in head voice with ease. But when I try higher nothing happens, not a sound.
