What a beautiful voice and poetic song? I could listen to this all day long 😄 I am so proud to be Hmong and married to a wonderful Vietnamese husband 😄 I love both the Hmong and Vietnamese version. I don't understand how some Hmongs can say that they can't understand this version. Of course, it's more of an operatic version so it requires more focused listening. If anyone has any classical music training, it's not hard to understand. Albeit the phrasing is a bit of a challenge but her pronunciation is perfect. I emigrated when I was 7 years old to the US and now almost 50. Lived amongst English speaking all my life other than speaking with my parents, married to my college sweetheart for the last 25+ years speaking only English and I have no problem understanding this song? My husband on the other hand has a second grade Vietnamese education and have no classical music training so he can't understand the Vietnamese version either (and no, it's not bc he's not educated. He's a physician )? I, however, am exposed to both Italian, French, and Chinese operas along with classical music training so it was not difficult for me to understand. I don't speak Vietnamese but I remembered my mother-in-law singing old traditional Vietnamese songs like this while trying to put my babies to sleep. The point of this is not whether the singer is Hmong or Vietnamese. What I believe is important is that everyone needs to take from this is the beauty of this poetic song and how it was sung by this lovely young lady. As Hmongs, we don't often hear our language sung in such a beautiful poetic and operatic phrasing like Chinese or Vietnamese. So when we are exposed to it, we can't understand it and think it's not true "Hmong". And to this beautiful young lady, please I would love to hear more poetic Hmong songs sung by your angelic voice 😄💖💖
