He is an African from Nigeria, raised in Greece, specifically in Athens. As everyone knows, however, the Greek language is very strong and makes you Greek when you speak it. This is called Hellenism and was first spread during the time of Alexander the Great. Basically, almost all Greeks today are children of Hellenism. Another element that makes Gianni Greek, is Orthodoxy that makes you Greek even more. Pure Greek (DNA) from ancient Greece does not exist in relation to that ancient time. Except for some specific areas of Greece. So the same can be said for Giannis. That he is a Greek of Hellenism. Personally, I am very proud first of all for his parents and then for him for what he achieved.
@DoYouLikeHawaijar2 жыл бұрын
From his documentaries I found out that majority of Greeks are extreme racists and he and his family faced a lot of hardships and mistreated while he was young. Now as he becomes successful and popular, Greeks will say I'm proud of him as Greeks, as sons of Hellinism blahblahblah, shameless people(not you if you are not racist).
@tutotutot51932 жыл бұрын
i wish africans who make it overseas could untie this bondage of countries that dont nurture talent. I wish he would just identify as Greek its unfortunate his race gives it away. There is absolutely no reason that Nigeria, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia and Kenya cant be leaders in sports, economy and military. Infact these countries are the reason africa is backwards and countries like Botswana, Mauritius and Rwanda are just too small and insignificant.
@Soleil432152 жыл бұрын
I agree with the part that the Hellenic language is a very strong component and it shapes your identity, thus people who embrace the identity and speak the language are part of Hellenism. Regarding the DNA element, there's research which proves that modern Hellenes (Greeks) have a genetic overlap with the DNA of the ancient Myceneans. In other words, the living Greeks are descendants of ancient Greeks and they proved it by comparing 1.2 million letters of genetic code across genomes. I wanted to highlight this because a lot of people don't know this and they assume or reproduce what they heard/saw from yt comments.

The team took a chance on him, & he gave them a chance. 🙂 Giannis Antetokounmpo is an absolute workhorse & workload. 🔥 I mean what I say. & this is brought to you by a Nuggets fan (being a big fan of Nikola Jokic myself). Also, being an adamant supporter of the Phoenix Suns, & Devin Booker! Giannis, Nikola, & Devin are crafting upon incredible legacies for themselves to follow. 👍🙏🙌💫 Therefore, each have earned *much* more respect, credit, & recognition then they're given. 🧐
@PhoenixTeamMG2 жыл бұрын
Giannis is something else too man! 😅🤷♂️😬🌠 They acquired a real special player since day one. 👌🔥🔥 On top of that, the Milwaukee Bucks have such a brilliant structure built around him, that, things haven't really changed much w/ what they've got. There's still this same model of toughness & element of consistency about them, that's just going to make them tough again. 💪😅 & it may sound cliche, but those *dudes* deserve the proper recognition themselves. 🧐🤷♂️ Also, a guy like Jrue Holiday is a big part of what makes them successful (other than Giannis). 🔥😅 Furthermore, the way the organization constructed their team & coaching staff was like swinging for the fences (which they did!). It is no coincidence, as this is the team that I want to overcome the most to reach the top. 😏🙏 #UnfinishedBusiness ☝️🔥 Either way, I'm happy for Giannis w/ the way things turned out for him! Plus, Jrue. 🙂 & I hope that things turn out for Devin & Nikola in similar ways, sometime, too. 😊☝️ Nevertheless, it's time for guys like them to shine. 🏅🏀⭐⬅️ All three places have been doing a great job w/ what they've been given.

@nathanherzka93552 жыл бұрын
When all is said and done I believe he will be the greatest bucks player ever, right now Kareem holds it, but he bolted for LA
@plazik74812 жыл бұрын
Giannis about to pass up Kareem as Bucks all time leading scorer within the next couple games and that will solidify it. Kareem brought a ring to Milwaukee 51 years ago, and even though I wasn't alive during the time I appreciate the fact that he at least brought us 1 so we weren't 1 of the franchises to never have won. That being said Kareem said a lot of negative shit about Milwaukee, especially after he bolted when he could to LA to ring chase. Even last year he said Bucks had no chance to win a title. Giannis proved his old ass wrong. To me Giannis is already the best Bucks player ever. 2 MVPs. a DPOY, and Finals MVP as a Buck. Not to mention the 5 first team all NBA's and 6 All Star appearance's. The main thing for me though is he could have followed the Kareem route, gone to a big market to ring chase but he chose to stay in Milwaukee for another 5 years and was determined to win us a ring. He'll always be #1 to the hearts of Bucks Nation

As a Greek I don't like it that my fellow people call him so proudly Greek now,because hadn't he been the ahtlete he is,most of us would call him an African(which he actually is),just like we call all the immigrant kids from Africa or other European countries,like Albania or Bulgaria,we call them by their ethnicity.He is a Nigerian-Greek to be more precise
