PS There is a famous pack of Wolves in Yellow Stone Park, with a huge amount of research and knowledge invested in them, look it up, or better still watch the documentary.

Wolves behave a LOT differently in captivity then in the wild. The comment above mine is right on the money about how Wolves behave in the wild: Wolf packs are actually families, with the father and mother being the leaders with their parental status. And when the children grow old enough, they leave the pack and go start their own.

I live on Toronto and my first wolfdog had likely the same sub species of.wolf as this wild one on him. Mackenzie valley wolf largest sub species. He also has arctic wolf in him. But he's huge. Super well behaved for a wolf dog but not for everybody

@tjmns meat and a few cups of kibble plus supplements bones and fur. Depends on the exact wolfdogs. Some can't process starch or vegetables as well as others. Some need higher fat content diets. It's of research. Even some pups needs research as to how to feed them as sometimes the mothers don't produce the right type of milk for a pup and supplements need to be added. Bottlefeed high contents often need to be supplemented right from get go to replace what's missing from dog milk and milk replacement to wolves. Joda eats like 5 pounds of meat plus 3 cups of kibble maybe 4 plus some additional add ins for extra fat content and stuff. But often it's the scraps from human grade food bought wholesale like fish and meat and such. He's very high content though. And has a wolf gut but wirh a few benefits from his dog lineage and mixed wolf sub types lineage. Chicken, fish, beef, pork, bison and Buffalo meat, elk, moose, deer, some commercial wet food on top like a can to half a can depending on season and exercise levels at the moment a day and depending on the rest of it. Various fruits and vegetable types, but obviously stuff needs to be excluded like garlic and onion or avocado. For kibble he's eaten a few. For commercial wet food thinks like blue in the past, orijin and acana, and other higher end stuff often ones designed for breeds that require low starch and fiber or no starch and fiber diets with high protein and fat requirements. His meat requirements are about 7 dollars a day depending on exact mix of meats and random scraps and such. And depending how spoiled he gets. Kibble depending on how you buy it cheapest to buy in bulk especially when blending his kibbles. He also goes through massive increase in food in winter. Like 25 pounds a day. But buying in bulk it depends. He also gets alot more game type meat in the winter and frozen fish. Hard to judge as it's usually bought in bulk and butchered down for red meats and stuff but for other stuff like chicken and fish it's usually whole or partly broken down. And because of buying in bulk the butchers and some other places his food is purchased from he gets alot of organ meat for free. Like 130 ish at most a month in kibble around 250 ish in meat with the random bone bits and organ meat thrown in, and then about 100 to 200 in supplements and supplementary items for dietary stuff a month. Depends on exact mix of foods. During his winter bulk it's about 400 to 500 in meat, if you weren't buying in the bulk quantities to get some of the add on free stuff before accounting for some of his fancy stuff. Kibble and supplements stay about the same, but if you go fancy it's like 750 a month in his meats and fish. Before even really spoiling him. And he's one of the few of his siblings or related dogs that wants to bulk for winter. And he's the largest. Most of the others is about 2 or 3 pounds of meat a day. And 2 or 3 cups of kibble plus some supplements and treats. Joda eats like 2 of his siblings food intakes. One of them wants to bulk in winter, he uptake his intake to jodas normal intake do about 5 pounds. If you let them fully gorge wild type they would intake 37 percent of their body mass in food. So for joda its like 67 some odd pounds of meat. When he was younger he broke into a freezer and ate about 50 to 60 pounds of meat. Some of his lower content relatives can eat more or entirely like dogs. Just feed them a high quality Raw diet since they have the high fat diet requirements and high protein since alot of sled dog and other Nordic breeds in the mixture. And arctic wolf. That said he's with his breeders right now so probably with the fancy bits they feed him as spoiling him could be over 1500 a month in meat. They're rich af and eat well themselves but they share with all their animals. Their cats eat wagyu and shit. They fed him a giant tomahawk one time I was there. Some is fed raw some frozen some is fed in cooked meals with supplements added and turned into stews or like stir fries almost but with grilled meats sometimes with kibble sometimes with other stuff like rice. Eggs and other stuff as well. Alot of hunters who meet him also love just giving him loads of scraps and stuff it's kinda jokes. He met one when practicing search and rescue scent type work and was just absolutely adored by the locals who were walking about. Mind you many can be cheaper to feed and me and his breeders tend to feed absolute top possible diets within reason. And during really high activity periods we add some extra calories to his diet via some extra pounds of meat and fish.

The biggest wolves are the MacKenzie Valley Wolves. A big male can weigh and 170. This guy is in that range.

@@anthonyg2554 again that’s a claim that hasn’t been backed by a single actual body report nor is this wolf anywhere near that range. People think Amur tigers get 600 pounds and guess what every weight that actual biologists have taken has never found a cat over 550. Im not saying these animals could possible get that big…but one average in the modern world it just isn’t happening. Talk to people who actually work hands on whether it’s wolf hunters or biologists, read studies from actual scientists and stop watching terrible KZbin size estimate weights.

That wolf is proof that while the Call of the Wild is fictitious, it is certainly possible that a dog like Buck could exist, as Buck was a scotch Shepard-Saint Bernard mix that in his prime weighed over 180 lbs and could down a full-grown moose on his own (again, fictional dog from a book, but clearly possible). Also, that’s such a beautiful wolf!
