There are self-driving cars, trucks and there are robots that bring objects from A to B and can also open doors independently if you combine these technologies so 3D home printers with self-driving cars and robots because you can build whole cities. Once you have programmed this correctly, the efficiency is unimaginable!!!!

Exactly good minds think alike I see, add the 3d printer on top of electric self driving cars and that will be humans advancements in life that we can travel any home ourself anywhere, we can become nomads traveling earth again with no village to go back to but we would know where everyone is at cause the car shows who's around you. The printer on the car would make usually a cube garage around your car, we could add this to all driving viechicles for any time settlement anywhere we at by having the 3d printed machines coded with list of simple home instruction like to create a dome around us or an cube or an simple wall.and if this is not in everyone teaching I'm every grade then we are failing as a species.have a great month, thanks for your great mind review on this.

I think that would cause the "homeless" population to rise. Why would some want to pay for a house when they can act homeless and get a house for free? On the same note, why wouldn't everyone feel "unsafe" in shelters...if they feel unsafe, they get a free house. What could be great is building a bunch of cheap homes in undesirable areas and letting the homeless live there. Get them off the streets and out of good real estate areas. To qualify they would need to work for some type of government program to help "pay" back the taxpayers or at least help maintain the system they take from.

This makes sense for southern climates, that would otherwise be built with CMU concrete blocks (in winter subzero climate airtightness and insulation is obligatory). But what is the drying curing time? A rain fall could ruin the print halfway through. What about foundation and anchors? The demo shows a print of a flat warehouse floor. Steel rebars would still be needed to anchor walls to some conventional concrete foundation. More testing is needed

I think the best way to look at these types of projects is as a proof of concept. The electric car has existed for years, but it wasn't until last decade that they truly saw their potential. Regardless, I don't think the idea for printed homes to be for every use case. The primary interest is when you need a LOT of structures built quickly. At this current iteration, what comes to mind is quickly creating shelters for refugees or another situation where hundreds or more people suddenly need shelters to accommodate.

Concrete is normally reinforced. Why is the windmill support not reinforced? Concrete is good under compression but rubbish under tension. When the windmill shakes, parts of the base are under tension and will develop cracks. During sub-zero temperatures water will creep into the cracks, freeze, expand and increase the cracks. How is this handled in 3D printing concrete?

I invented the 3d printer in my head long ago. It was exactly this one. I never thought about it being small, just a big one, that used concrete in layers. I also invented the iPod in my head long ago. But I figured you could give the device away free with the perches of the PC program and buy the songs. They would make money selling the digital songs. I didn't know back then that everyone would just steal the music for free.

How do you add insulation? I see small cavities that could hold insulation, but there is also a lot of areas of thermal bridging. Also, how do you run utilities (plumbing, power)?

The internal structure of the wall looks like running pipes and electric lines wouldn't be too difficult. That obviously wasn't mentioned on the video. The way the concert was layered in a zig zag pattern seems to be very strong and probably has plenty of insultating properties as is.

You insulate from outside - simple styrofoam will do!

I'd love to see this technique used with liquified recycled plastic. I know they make bricks out of recycled plastic and then build houses with them already. But, I am thinking of skipping a couple of steps, gaining speed and efficiency and eventually lowering cost. I wonder if the technology is already here to keep the plastic in a slurry form.
