Hey Ivan, for the bed heater you could wrap the cord inside-out (sort of concentric) to only heat the area below the print. Most probably you already considered this option.
@hanswurstusbrachialus5213 Жыл бұрын
As the cord is not very long, he would also need to get the cable from the mid one across or aside the others which doesnt comply well with his current design.

Just purchased this and started 3D printing the parts - can't wait to see it come together ! amazing work. And to everyone going on about the 4mm layer height - it's really 0.4mm layer height - at end of video shows 4375 layers - at 0.4mm a layer that equals 1750mm - 1750mm to feet is 5'7" which i'm assuming is his actual height - if it was 4mm layers at 4375 layers the thing would be like 17 meters+ tall

Your work is amazing and I love the machine!!! Im a Laboratory Machinist and have a few small suggestions. When milling deep pockets, it's sometimes wiser to use a few tools of increasing lengths to lessen chatter. You can buy endmills with shanks smaller than the cutting edge to eliminate rubbing. Endmills with long shanks and a small cutting areas are also better at deep pockets because they lower cutting forces. Profile ramps are also useful for a finish pass. Keep up the fantastic work!!

Ivan a printer this size you should have the bed fixed at the bottom. That way you can take a of weight when you print it’s much better to have the printhead raise and lower. Just think that of the stretch on your belts as you put 15 or 20 kg of material.
@ivanmirandawastaken Жыл бұрын
With 20kg the elongation is 4mm at maximum Z height and it is partially compensated in the steps/mm configuration.

I absolutely love the nano polymer. It's the only thing I've used now for nearly 2 years.i print everything directly on glass (flipped ender 3 v2 bed) I print pla,abs,pa6-cf,pc, pc/abs blends and much more and it works amazing for every single one. Secret trick is it uses isopropyl alcohol. So after a few prints I pour a small amount of alcohol on thr bed and use the brush to level out the polymer. When I bought my 2nd bottle I poured half of it into the old bottle and topped them off with 99% alcohol. One bottle lasted over a year. Love your videos!! Crazy builds and impressive engineering. Never hammer gears onto motor shafts. Even if you don’t break the gears, you damage the bearings. If your gears are too tight, get a welding rod oven (relatively cheap) to heat the gears, and a styrofoam cup filled with dry ice pellets to cool the shaft. Both can be purchased at a welding shop. Heat the gear, cool the shaft, slide the gear on. If it still doesn’t fit, your gear bore is too small. To remove the gear, heat the outside of the gear with a butane torch while maintaining pressure with a gear puller. Do not overheat the gear. If it changes color you have too much heat.

I would definitely love to build my own printer of that's size. The fact you printed to the max per say. Definitely shows areas of needing work to fix versus smaller prints that might not provide insight to issues to it all. Love it and would like the blueprint of the build if you don't mind.

You could just do the heating element basics (the wire) and then pour a high temp rubber on top and spread it with a trowel. Then, the sky is the limit. You could make any size you want, and perform at any temp you want. To secure the wires down before pouring, a single drop of superglue and activating agent should suffice.

I don't know if this could be implemented the way I'm thinking, but instead of having one thermistor for the bed, would it be possible to mount a thermal camera in one of the corners to better monitor each individual heated wire to correct for discrepancies between the different heated wires, or even just a thermistor on the actual hotend that could go around while the bed is heating up to probe the temp at different spots to assure even heating, I really want to build a large scale 3d printer and have been working on some of my own designs and this has been an idea I've really wanted to try and one that I think could work really well in your case to assure perfect heating for all those SPACERRRRRRRS!!!!!! I LOVE watching your videos, thank you for making me smile more!!

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 🛠️ In this video, the creator assembles the frame and carriage for a 3D printer. 01:27 💡 The creator discusses using V wheels instead of linear rails for cost-saving and invites opinions on this choice. 02:55 🔄 The creator makes custom pulleys for the printer's motors to increase bed movement speed. 04:08 🌡️ To heat the large print bed, the creator uses wires typically used for floor heating, allowing irregular bed shapes. 08:12 🖥️ For 3D modeling, the creator recommends Onshape, a cloud-based and versatile 3D modeling software. 11:28 🛌 The bed has various heating elements, and you can control which parts of the bed are heated for power-saving. 13:25 🏠 The creator explains the homing sequence and coordinates for the printer. 14:59 🖨️ A test print is performed, although it has some issues like layer shifts. 16:42 🤖 A 1.75-meter-tall statue is successfully 3D printed despite challenges, and it takes about four days to complete. The metal shavings around the extruder is unfortunately a known problem with the Apus extruder. The gears they ship with are made with material that wears extremely quickly. I've had 3 fail on me this way eventually the teeth wear away completely. I'd recommend either machining something harder if you have the tools or switching the Apus out sooner rather than later. It is a shame though, Apus seems well thought out and well put together apart from the gear problem. Maybe one day Phaetus will fix the issue
