Larry takes Pike aficionados, Mitch and Cam, out in pursuit of a gamefish that make Northern Pike look like bait: The GIANT Musky of Green Bay. Also, Steve Hogler (Fisheries Biologist from the WDNR) shares a history of Muskie stocking on the bay, and some insight on the possibility of Green Bay holding a world-record Muskellunge.

Great video! Loved seeing the expression on the youngin's face. That's what makes it all worthwhile.

What an absolute tank and so awesome that the youngest angler caught that fish. He will no doubt remember that for the rest of his life. You have created a next generation musky monster Larry!

He made a great point a lot of people either don't know about or forget: when you catch larger fish like this, always remember if you're releasing them to handle them as little as possible, ease them back into the water and if you can, either get a net or a cradle like shown and let the fish rest. It helps to "pump" them in the water as well (hold them gently by the back and move them forward and backwards in the water to get fresh oxygen moving through the gills). It was bittersweet, I made the mistake of not doing that while fishing up at Star Lake near Minocqua. However as the 36 inch musky floated not 15 feet from our boat, an eagle swooped in and grabbed it.

Never easy getting out fished by a 12 year old, but his excitement made it all worth it! There is no greater joy in life than seeing that kind of excitement on a child! I cannot stress enough how important it is getting kids involved in the outdoors!

I had a 50" Musky in the boat last summer and it took almost 10 minutes to revive the Musky. I was worried she wasn't going to make it, but it was the biggest celebration when we saw her swim away out of my hands.

Wow! Great publicity for Wild Rose! I'm from Wild Rose and if you ever want to go check out the fish hatchery, they have tours and a welcome center and everything! Fun fact--I believe the Wild Rose fish hatchery is the largest one in Wisconsin and my dad's cabinetry shop provided their cabinets, drawers, and a lot of their displays! Also check out Lauritzen Sports in town! It's a great mom-n-pop gun shop/gas station--YES GUN SHOP/GAS STATION! Worked there for a few years and it's the best place on earth. Also LOTS of good lakes like Poygan, Round, Kusel, and Long Lake, all within half an hour! CHECK IT OUT!!

I loved the interview with the guy and hearing the history of the fishery and stocking program. I dont quite understand why theres only modest natural reproduction tho. If some fish are reproducing then why wouldnt most be reproducing?? I also think theres a world record swimming around out there now.

Not to be mean but in my experience fishing for musky, a fish that size would weigh meh, 40 pounds or more. Nothing against that kid but no way he's holding that up. And if that fish decided to start flopping while he was holding it, someone is going for a ride.

Nah. Todays modern 4-strokes are bullets if you take care of them. Idling along with them is not harmful at all. I do a great deal of Trolling with my $17,000 Mercury 150 4-stroke motor. Have so for 35 years on the Lakes I live on. I have very good control at the Steering wheel, and catch a lot of Tiger Muskies this way. Slower speeds I use a Trolling motor. But for faster speeds, the main engine is just fine.

No tip if I dont hold the fish.. that's ridiculous. I understand the kid not handling a 54" fish.. but not letting pops hold a sub 50" for a pic? Cmon..

Why even bother with the kicker motor and the trolling motor. The big motor at idle will do about 3.5 mph and you can just steer wherever you need to with the wheel

Why have a kicker and not use it? The kicker keeps hours off the main engine. Idling your main engine for hours on end is one of the worst things you can do. I'm guessing you don't do a lot of trolling because if you did you'd understand that keeping a boat straight with the wheel is a full time job and you can't focus on other things. Us guys that have $5000+ worth of bow mounts and kickers use them and get our moneys worth

We never cared for trolling, someone hands you a rod and say's this is your fish reel it in, great, so my 6 year old granddaughter can catch a 50" muskie, kind of makes the whole sport seem kind of worthless. Just my opinion.

In Green Bay and Lake Saint Clair if you aren’t trolling you aren’t catching fish for a good part of the Season. The Shad and the Muskies spread out and you have to search to find them. Especially if you are running a Guide business.
