Blaine, instead of full minnows, try using only the head. Many days that works far better as it's still giving you all the scent needed, and a lot less to slide out of their mouth. Also - three pound test would work better in that off colored water to reduce your break-offs. Just use a quality mono ice line - screw the super lines for ice fishing as they're like sails! Nice bunch of eaters and a LOT of fun - tight lines!

i used crappie magnets and trout magnets for crappie and i think the trout magnets worked better at least for me they liked the smaller jig but they worked better then live bait we could catch 100 crappie a day but then are river filled in with sand and the fish left...

Hell yeah, they are... I keep a few from time to time but I prefer to take only what I plan to eat that night. It's much better fresh than frozen.
