If some of today’s competition could bring something half as good as this consistently Open bodybuilding would be saved imo. The fact that so many competitors nowadays just go for all out mass instead of the aesthetic is part of the reason why I believe more people are getting excited for the Men’s Physique and Classic Physique divisions nowadays. In my view, the only Mr Olympia to have won in Open Bodybuilding over the last 5 years that was aesthetic was Shawn Rhoden.

Man I remember seeing him in a magazine posing in that superman costume when I was a little kid thinking this guy had the most unbelievable physique I'd ever seen. That was almost 20 years ago and I've never been as impressed. Sure there are bigger guys with more mass, but his proportions and dimensions and cuts are crazy, the fact he can look the way he did off season and still get shredded and contest ready in a few months is absolutely insane.
